The Unofficial Jedi's Guide to the YJCCG Galaxy is THE card strategy reference for Decipher's Young Jedi CCG. Starting with the first expansion, 'The Menace of Darth Maul', each individual card will be discussed until it can be discussed no further. Nevertheless, if I have missed something, email me at jinnandtonic@yahoo.com.au, and I will update it accordingly.

jinnandtonic's Grades:

Economy: C-
He Was Meant To Help You is not only by itself uneconomical, it threatens to make your entire deck uneconomical as well. It allows Anakin and Qui-Gon to fight together in battle, with a mediocre Destiny of 2. Also remember that Qui-Gon Jinn has a Destiny of 1, which means multiples of the Jedi Master and He Was Meant To Help You isn't going to do your deck's Average Destiny any favors. Not to mention the ugly effect that will have on the effectiveness of Anakin Skywalker / Podracer Pilot. Ugh.

Decipher: C-
I am forced to agree that the idea behind the card is a good one, and it fits the game text of the card perfectly. Unfortunately, due to Anakin Skywalker / Podracer Pilot's reliance on high Destiny support cards, it means that the overall effectiveness of He Was Meant To Help You (and your deck overall) is lessened as a result. A higher Destiny (say 4 or 5) would be more welcome, and I also have a large quibble with the image. I would greatly prefer an image of Qui-Gon and Anakin standing together than one of Shmi. Decipher are essentially saying that Shmi is more important to the idea of the card than the relationship between Anakin and Qui-Gon, which is unfortunately incorrect. Why not a picture of Qui-Gon on Anakin Skywalker, Meet Obi-Wan Kenobi then?? I am sure you get my drift.

Overall Usefulness: C
He Was Meant to Help You is not the most useful Battle card currently doing the rounds, primarily due to the fact that it somewhat conflicts with the 'Anakin-strategy'. Generally, if you are using Anakin Skywalker, Podracer Pilot in multiples, you want a supporting deck with a high Average Destiny. Unfortunately, the inclusion of multiples of both Qui-Gon Jinn / Jedi Master (Destiny = 1) and He Was Meant To Help You (Destiny = 2) in that supporting deck will probably not aid your cause. Maybe you can get away with it by compensating in other areas (e.g. lots of Blaster Rifles and Naboo Starfighters), but this is a card that you shouldn't be including very many of in any serious Anakin-Qui Gon deck.

CARD FACTS:
--------------------

UNCOMMON, YELLOW-DOT, BATTLE CARD

Destiny: 2

Game Text:
Use with Anakin and Qui-Gon. They fight together.

Flavor Text: "He's a very special boy." -- Qui-Gon Jinn

------------------------------------------------
SPECIFIC INTERACTING CARDS:
------------------------------------------------

He Was Meant to Help You requires:

Qui-Gon Jinn, Jedi Master
(#2, Menace of Darth Maul, Rare, Red-Dot)

AND

Anakin Skywalker, Podracer Pilot
(#4, Menace of Darth Maul, Rare, Blue-Dot)

Obviously one good thing about this combination card (in comparison to, for example, Fear Attracts the Fearful) is that the two currently available versions of the specified characters are in different dot-colors. Should you feel the need, you can go the 'whole hog' and include 10 copies each of Qui-Gon Jinn / Jedi Master and Anakin Skywalker / Podracer Pilot, along with multiples of He Was Meant to Help You. The minimum Power attainable from this combination is a combined Power of 7 (e.g. you draw a Destiny = 1 while not on Tatooine), and the maximum before a Weapon bonus is 16 (e.g. you draw a Destiny 6 and you are at Tatooine / Podrace Arena). Nice, if you can avoid the Destiny pitfalls somehow.

-------------------
IN BRIEF:
-------------------

He Was Meant To Help You is probably not the card it should be, but is not entirely annoying like Gungan Curiosity. It is very usable, but requires careful deck-building to ensure that it does not your burden your deck too much. If you use 3 copies of He Was Meant to Help You and 7 copies of Qui-Gon Jinn / Jedi Master in your deck, that results in a Destiny Average for 1/6 of your deck equalling 1.3, which is utterly miserable. The remainder of your deck is going to have to be packed with high-Destiny cards in order to lift that average up to 3 or 4. It is very possible to lose both Qui-Gon and Anakin if you draw a poor Destiny, which would effectively result in the loss of a massive 12 Damage (Anakin Skywalker / Podracer Pilot's Damage + Qui-Gon Jinn / Jedi Master's Damage + Anakin + Qui-Gon + He Was Meant to Help You), not to mention a severe reduction in forces at the planet at which you are battling, so keeping that Destiny high is vitally important, to keep Anakin pumped.

-------------------------------
GENERAL PLAY TIPS:
-------------------------------

* Alright, let's say we have 7 copies each of Anakin Skywalker / Podracer Pilot (Destiny: 4) and Qui-Gon Jinn / Jedi Master (Destiny: 1), with 4 copies of He Was Meant To Help You (Destiny: 2), and see what the reasonably highest Average Destiny we can get will be. For the remainder of red, let's settle for 3x Jawa / Bargainer (Destiny: 5), and for blue, 3x Yoda / Jedi Master (Destiny: 5). For green we will have a mix of R2-D2 / Astromech Droid and versions of Queen Amidala (all Destiny: 6), and orange will be exclusively controlled by the Blaster Rifle (x10, Destiny: 6). The remainder of yellow is for The Negotiations Were Short (Destiny: 4, x6), we will be needing Republic Cruiser / Transport x3 (Destiny: 2) because of all the unique characters we are using. Chuck in the three sites (Tatooine/Podrace Arena Destiny: 4, Naboo/Theed Palace Destiny: 3, Coruscant/Capital City: 4) and 4x Naboo Starfighters (Destiny: 6), and there you have it. Average Destiny: 4.3. Not bad at all.

* Style Tip: End Episode I before it finishes. Gang up on Maul with Qui-Gon and Anakin at Tatooine / Desert Landing Site with He Was Meant to Help You. Ask for a refund on your movie ticket?
