The Unofficial Jedi's Guide to the YJCCG Galaxy is THE card strategy reference for Decipher's Young Jedi CCG. Starting with the first expansion, 'The Menace of Darth Maul', each individual card will be discussed until it can be discussed no further. Nevertheless, if I have missed something, email me at jinnandtonic@yahoo.com.au, and I will update it accordingly.

jinnandtonic's Grades:

Economy: B-
Fear Attracts the Fearful is a reasonably economical card, but not great. It allows Anakin and Jar Jar to fight together in battle, giving them a Power +2 bonus on top of their combined Power. It also has a fairly good Destiny of 4. Not one of the most economical 'character A fights with character B' battle cards, but still a nice staple card for a theme deck.

Decipher: A
There is pretty much nothing wrong with this card. The idea behind it is a good one (i.e. Sebulba attracts Jar Jar, Anakin helps Jar Jar) and Decipher's execution is spot on on thios occasion. Maybe a larger Power bonus would be more welcome, although the existing Power bonus of +2 is probably fairer. I like the flavor text as well. Mark another one up for Decipher.

Overall Usefulness: B-
Not a particularly useful card, for a number of reasons. Fear Attracts the Fearful is currently hampered by the fact that both of it's specified characters are blue-dot, which means that at a maximum, a combined 10 copies of Anakin and Jar Jar cards can be included (e.g. Anakin Skywalker, Podracer Pilot and Jar Jar Binks, Gungan Chuba Thief). This will probably change in future expansions, but for now it is something of a problem. It also does not provide a great Power bonus, and does not really bring together two characters that you would normally slap together when constructing a theme. It is a 1-2 copies per deck type of card, maybe 3 if you are brazen.

CARD FACTS:

UNCOMMON, YELLOW-DOT, BATTLE CARD

Destiny: 4

Game Text:
oo Use with Anakin and Jar Jar. They fight together.

Flavor Text: "Wesa ina pitty bad goo." -- Jar Jar Binks

------------------------------------------------
SPECIFIC INTERACTING CARDS:
------------------------------------------------

For this card, you will require:

Jar Jar Binks, Gungan Chuba Thief
(#3, Menace of Darth Maul, Rare, Blue-Dot)

AND

Anakin Skywalker, Podracer Pilot
(#4, Menace of Darth Maul, Rare, Blue-Dot)

As previously mentioned, if you are going to include Fear Attracts the Fearful in your deck, your best bet is to include either 4 or 5 copies of each of the above cards in your deck. If you are going to include 5 copies of each, you may want to try 3 or even 4 copies of Fear Attracts the Fearful in your deck. The minimum number of copies you should have in your deck to warrant inclusion of Fear Attracts the Fearful is probably 3 copies of each. Using Fear Attracts the Fearful with 2 of each character may work every once in a while in a game, but then, it's not much of a stable theme is it? Don't leave *everything* to luck.

-------------------
IN BRIEF:
-------------------

Fear Attracts the Fearful is an okay-ish Battle card that you will obviously not want to include unless you have it specifically in mind when building your deck. For starters you are going to have to have multiples of both Jar Jar Binks, Gungan Chuba Thief and Anakin Skywalker, Podracer Pilot. (min. 3 of each suggested, 2 okay if it is a fun game) I suppose that shouldn't be too difficult. Again, somewhat like Counterparts, you are going to have to ride your luck to get this combo going, and it is best when you focus on another half-theme as well in your deck. A good theme that you can combine this with is either a Gungan theme or a high-Destiny theme. Overall, not the best Battle card in existence, and we probably wouldn't miss it if it ceased to exist. But the opportunity for *half* a cool theme still exists. (How many times have I said this) Future expansions, we await you with bated breath and excessive salivation.

-------------------------------
GENERAL PLAY TIPS:
-------------------------------

* For the first half of the Fear Attracts the Fearful theme, we will be needing 5 copies each of Anakin Skywalker, Podracer Pilot and Jar Jar Binks, Gungan Chuba Thief. We will also want 3-4 copies of Fear Attracts the Fearful, and maybe a 1-2 copies of Anakin Skywalker's Podracer / 1-2 copies of Jar Jar Binks' Electropole. What do we do with the rest of our deck? Let's first have a look-see at combining this with Anakin Skywalker, Meet Obi-Wan Kenobi. Throw in 3-4 copies of that Battle card in as well, and 5+ copies of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Young Jedi if you happen to have them lying around. Maybe a lightsaber or two if you fancy, Shmi's Pride if you like. Jumble or that up and you should have a fairly coherent theme deck that probably oozes a little more cool than effectiveness. But YJCCG has always been about fun anyway.

* Obviously, when you are using Fear Attracts the Fearful, you are going to be using Anakin Skywalker, Podracer Pilot as well. So when you are building your deck, try to keep that Average Destiny higher than average if you want your deck to be more effective. Fuel Anakin's fire! Send him on the path to the Dark side!

* Style Tip: Trounce Sebulba with Anakin + Jar Jar + Fear Attracts the Fearful. Perhaps even better, trounce Maul! Teh thought of Anakin and Jar Jar beating up on Maul brings tears of amusement to my eyes, however.

ADDITIONS:
------------------

Up to you. Think of anything else cool about his card, or combos that you have used to great effect? What about a particular game in which this card made you win? Send anything like that to jinnandtonic@yahoo.com.au and I'll add it here. Fear. Fear attracts the fearful. I don't know who is scarier, Maul or Jar Jar. Those ears could choke you to death you know.
