The Unofficial Jedi's Guide to the YJCCG Galaxy is THE card strategy reference for Decipher's Young Jedi CCG. Starting with the first expansion, 'The Menace of Darth Maul', each individual card will be discussed until it can be discussed no further. Nevertheless, if I have missed something, email me at jinnandtonic@yahoo.com.au, and I will update it accordingly.

jinnandtonic's Grades:

Economy: B
Electropole is a key card in your typical Gungan deck, supplying Power +2 and a Destiny ? draw to any universal (non-unique) Gungan in battle or a Destiny ? draw to any other character. Deploying for two, it is quite expensive for a weapon, and has a fairly average Destiny of 3. Overall, not particularly economical, but by no means uneconomical.

Decipher: B-
Firstly, let me just say that the image appears a bit doctored for my tastes, although I can live with it. Secondly, why is it that this card is best used by non-unique Gungans? It defies logic. Why do unique Gungans (who are presumably more skilled than non-unique Gungans, e.g. Captain Tarpals) get less of a bonus than Joe Gungan from The Shire? What I am saying is that Decipher, in attempting to create a unique, different weapon, have strayed a bit from the film. Maybe you can argue that this Electropole is not as sophisticated as those used by the unique characters, so they are not used to the weapon of the common Gungan. But I am reading *far* too much into it. Overall, alright-ish.

Overall Usefulness: B
Pretty useful, but then again not really. To get full usage out of this card you are going to have to have quite a few universal Gungans in your deck, so it is highly likely that you will only use this card if you are using a Gungan deck theme. While it does cater for all characters, it only has a Destiny of 3 and also has an expensive Deploy. If you pack your green and blue categories with universal Gungans, than this maybe a card you will like to use.

FLAVOR TEXT: The electropole's tip generates a concentrated electrical charge.

SPECIFIC INTERACTING CARDS:
------------------------------------------------

In terms of the non-unique Gungans, let me just say that Gungan Infantry / Warrior is currently your best bet due to the limited sites now available. For instance, at Naboo/Theed Palace, a Gungan Infantry / Warrior armed with an Electropole will have an effective Power of 6 + Destiny, which is pretty nice, really. Obviously when the rest of the sites are released, the other Gungans will become just as effective in general play as Gungan Infantry / Warrior, it just depends on what site you select to mount your attack on.

-------------------
IN BRIEF:
-------------------

The non-unique Electropole is a handy card for a Gungan deck, but not so-great for your average deck. Let's face it, in your average Light deck with a couple of Gungans, a Blaster Rifle will probably do just as good a job and will provide your deck with a much higher Average Destiny in total. In a Gungan deck, a couple of Electropoles would not go astray, simply because the vast majority of your forces are likely to be universal Gungans. (See The Deck Theme Dictionary for my take on a Gungan deck.) It can however, still be something of a bummer when you pull Jar Jar Binks or Boss Nass in your first hand and your Electropole can not provide them with a bonus. Still, a cool theme card and one that is handy in general.

-------------------------------
GENERAL PLAY TIPS:
-------------------------------

* Again there is the Destiny problem, that is, the orange category should be where you are looking to increase your deck's Destiny Average, not make it worse. Yet Electropoles have an average Destiny of 3. In your Gungan deck, you will probably still want quite a few Blaster Rifles (Destiny = 6) and maybe a couple of the other Gungan themed weapons (my personal fave is Kaadu). So the moral of the rant is: don't overdo the Electropoles. They are expensive in more ways than one and and are best used in Gungan decks *only*.

Whinge: I don't think that non-Gungans should be able to use Electropoles. Obi-Wan, poking a Battle Droid with an Electropole? No, thankyou.

Up to you. Think of anything else cool about his card, or combos that you have used to great effect? What about a particular game in which this card made you win? Send anything like that to jinnandtonic@yahoo.com.au and I'll add it here. V = IR for anyone who is interested. I won't explain it if you didn't know.
