The Unofficial Jedi's Guide to the YJCCG Galaxy is THE card strategy reference for Decipher's Young Jedi CCG. Starting with the first expansion, 'The Menace of Darth Maul', each individual card will be discussed until it can be discussed no further. Nevertheless, if I have missed something, email me at jinnandtonic@angelfire.com, and I will update it accordingly.

This entry contains similar/sometimes identical text from #34 Obi-Wan's Lightsaber. Come on, the cards are not far from identical!

jinnandtonic's Grades:

Economy: C-
There is not a lot to say, really. This weapon gives Power bonuses in Battle only to Jedi, so therefore you are going to have to include a lot of Jedi in your deck to make it useful. And even then, it only has a Destiny of 2, which means that with all those Jedi and lightsabers, you can't expect too much from your Destiny draws. Boo hiss.

Decipher: F
Well, they mucked this one up. Lightsabers just *can't* be used in *really* competitive decks, because they are underpowered and overpriced. It sure would be fun to have a host of Jedi chopping up Battle Droids with Lightsabers, but Decipher have over-compensated a touch and made that pretty hard to do. I can only hope that they fix their mistake and make Qui-Gon's Lighsaber and Darth Maul's Lightsaber much more economical and fair in future expansions.

Overall Usefulness: C-
Probably a touch more useful than Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber because it gives a greater bonus to all the other non-specific Jedi (o? compared to ?). Although it Deploys for 1 (Obi's Saber deploys for Free), the Jedi Lightsaber is probably more effective at the moment, unless you have been blessed with 10 copies of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Young Jedi.

SPECIFIC INTERACTING CARDS:

Dare I say Ki-Adi-Mundi will be an interacting card in the near-future? Say September-ish?

-------------------
IN BRIEF:
-------------------

Another underpowered lightsaber. It is a bit of a shame, really. This is probably the most useful Light lightsaber available at present, simply because it provides a slightly higher bonus to 'other Jedi' than Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber. But even then, it still only provides Power +1 greater than your trusty Blaster Rifle. Which happens to have a Destiny of 6, compared to the lightsaber standard Destiny of 2. You may well argue that low Destiny draws don't matter diddly-squat when you've got massive hulking Jedi on the table. But it does not take much for a Battle Droid to shoot Yoda in the head, let me tell you. And that, my friends, is wrong.

-------------------------------
GENERAL PLAY TIPS:
-------------------------------

Unless you are really focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi with your deck building, Jedi decks are best served by using Jedi Lightsaber / Constructed by Ki-Adi-Mundi instead of Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber. This is because that the latter lightsaber gives your Jedi Power +1 and a Destiny ? draw in battle, whereas Obi's Lightsaber only gives a Destiny ? draw. Unless you are overloaded with Obi-Wans (lucky you!), you will generally have more of the other Jedi combined than copies of Obi-Wan. Just remember when you build your deck that Blaster Rifles have a much higher Destiny than Lightsabers (6 compared to 2) and you are hardly getting any more Power for your Jedi with your lightsabers (Power +1 or +2 more). Wisely, your decks must be built.

* The Destiny problem? I am not sure. Once you add all those Jedi in with their lightsabers, and some transports to rescue them, your deck's average Destiny is going to be pretty abysmal. Yoda / Jedi Master is one way to save the day, with his Destiny of 5. In the green-dot category, where there are presently no Jedi, it is probably best if you put 10 copies of Queen Amidala in your deck (just to lift that Destiny)! Any characters which are not Jedi in your deck really must have a Destiny of 5 or 6.

* This lightsaber is best used with your weaker Jedi, a.k.a Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Young Jedi. Why? Because you won't be able to slap down Mace or Qui-Gon down with this lightsaber in one turn. And if you try to, your opponent doesn't need to do much to finish you off.

* Style Tip: It would be kind of cool to Deploy Ki-Adi-Mundi with his lightsaber, although that is impossible as yet. D'oh!

ADDITIONS:
------------------

Up to you. Think of anything else cool about his card, or combos that you have used to great effect? What about a particular game in which this card made you win? Send anything like that to jinnandtonic@angelfire.com and I'll add it here. What color will the lightsabers of the remaining Jedi be? I can't wait.

* Boothby adds: The Sith Lightsaber is non-unique, whereas Jedi Lightsaber is unique. I find this uniqueness a hindrance when either one becomes stranded on a planet and I need to deploy a new copy elsewhere.
