The Unofficial Jedi's Guide to the YJCCG Galaxy is THE card strategy reference for Decipher's Young Jedi CCG. Starting with the first expansion, 'The Menace of Darth Maul', each individual card will be discussed until it can be discussed no further. Nevertheless, if I have missed something, email me at jinnandtonic@angelfire.com, and I will update it accordingly.

jinnandtonic's Grades:

Economy: B
- 6 power for 6 deploy is fairly standard good. However, Qui-Gon, JM has pretty good location bonuses at Tatooine (especially at the Desert Landing Site) and is probably your opponent's worst nightmare. Damage of 5 is fairly good considering that is the same as Obi-Wan, YJ who has less power.

Decipher: A
- I can't see anything wrong with this card aesthetically. The image they used is pretty good, and the location bonuses fit in seamlessly with the plot of the film.

Overall Usefulness: B+
- Well he IS the biggest hitting light character in the game so far. However, I tend to favor Obi-Wan Kenobi, YJ over him in any light deck because Obi just feels less restricted by locations. Obi's destiny is also better - destiny draws of one really suck.

FLAVOR TEXT: "This is a lesson I hope you've learned, my young Padawan. " - Qui-Gon Jinn

SPECIFIC INTERACTING CARDS:
------------------------------------------------

He Was Meant to Help You
(#55, Menace of Darth Maul, Uncommon, Yellow-Dot)
- This battle card allows your Anakin and Qui-Gon to fight together. This is a pretty handy card - any fight together cards are best with Anakin, I feel. Destiny of 2 doesn't do your average destiny any good, though.

We're Not In Trouble Yet
(#63, Menace of Darth Maul, Uncommon, Yellow-Dot)
- This battle card gives Qui-Gon Jinn an additional +2 power during any battle. Pretty good, but it is only +2 and The Negotiations Were Short is better value. Destiny of 2 also means that any Qui-Gon based deck will suffer in battles.

-------------------
IN BRIEF:
-------------------

In a game situation, you can probably tell already that I prefer Obi-Wan, YJ to Qui-Gon, JM on any day of the week. For some reason, this card reminds me of the Imperial character Kitik Keedkak of SWCCG Premiere, because both have high power, are expensive to deploy and make you suffer if they die. But they are still damn useful. Draw this card at the right time (preferably not s destiny) and you will have a silly grin on your face. Qui-Gon is the YJCCG Shivan Dragon (for Magic players), and can either win you or lose you a game depending on how and when he comes up during a match.

GENERAL PLAY TIPS:
-------------------------------

It would be hard to build an effective theme deck based around Qui-Gon Jinn, JM because of the inadequate battle card support you have for him. Whereas Obi-Wan, YJ has his lightsaber and a cool unique battle card, Qui-Gon gets *ANOTHER* grouping card and a substandard power modifier. Jedi decks seem to be quite popular however, and combining multiples of Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Anakin in a deck along with the appropriate supporting cards seems to be effective.

* Against Darth Maul, Sith Apprentice [SWEP1 SPOILERS]: Come on, everyone's seen the movie know right? If you haven't, chances are that you have heard what happens anyway. It is interesting to note that in terms of stats, Darth Maul, SA is identical to Qui-Gon Jinn, JM. Before you cry foul, it is probably fair to say that in the movie, Darth Maul killed Qui-Gon 'while under the effects of' At Last We Will Have Revenge. It will be interesting to see who gets the larger bonus from their personalised lightsaber in the coming expansions: my bet is that Maul's will be better, but with a lower destiny.

* Somewhat like Obi-Wan Kenobi, you must try to deploy Qui-Gon, JM with a weapon whenever you can. Because Qui-Gon costs 6 to deploy, this means that Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber or a simple Blaster are the only possibilities. Believe me when I say that when an unarmed Qui-Gon hits the table, the opponent will think "6 Damage" immediately (e.g. 5 Damage plus the Qui-Gon). Use your poker instincts to decide whether deployment is safe or not.

* It is actually to your advantage when using Qui-Gon that the Imperial Tatooine/Desert Landing Site site is in play. Being there gives Qui-Gon a power rating of 8, which is pretty tough to beat. Combined with any usable weapon and a battle card, Qui-Gon is virtually unstoppable.

* Keep in mind that the opponent will target Qui-Gon. A battle droid with a blaster rifle and a destiny draw at the right site can still defeat you. Any Qui-Gon based deck is advised to contain numerous copies of The Negotiations Were Short, to ensure victory with your venerable Jedi master.

* Style tip: I've already told you not to use We're Not In Trouble Yet, but anyhow, the combo still has style. For full stylishness, use Qui-Gon Jinn, JM first in your battle plan and wait for your opponent to try an Opee Sea Killer out on you. Then whack down We're Not In Trouble Yet, and look smug.

* Other style tips:

- Save Jar Jar with Qui-Gon Jinn often.

- Fight Darth Maul with Qui-Gon Jinn often. If you die, you'll at least die with style. If you win, you can dance about like a fool.

- Kill Watto. It would be fun to set up a Qui-Gon Jinn based deck and play it against a Watto based deck. There HAS to be a Jedi Mind Trick battle card soon, you just wait. One of the best moments in the film, too.

Up to you. Think of anything else cool about his card, or combos that you have used to great effect? What about a particular game in which this card made you win? Send anything like that to jinnandtonic@angelfire.com and I'll add it here.
