The Unofficial Jedi's Guide to the YJCCG Galaxy is THE card strategy reference for Decipher's Young Jedi CCG. Starting with the first expansion, 'The Menace of Darth Maul', each individual card will be discussed until it can be discussed no further. Nevertheless, if I have missed something, email me at jinnandtonic@angelfire.com, and I will update it accordingly.

jinnandtonic's Grades:

Economy: A-
- Ric Olie/Ace Pilot is one of the most economical cards in the game. Deploying for 2 with a base Power of 4, and location bonuses of Power +1 at all Tatooine sites, he is something of monster. But to even this up, he has a Damage of 3 and a Destiny of only 2. Still, he is the ideal man to save the day for minimal cost. He is the closest thing to a Light version of Aurra Sing/Bounty Hunter, and handy to have around. Just watch that Damage.

Decipher: C+
Well, it is a bit disappointing. The image used by Decipher is a touch ordinary (come on, he's bathed in shadow) and he strikes me as a bit overpowered. None of his location bonuses are true to the film (I suppose you could argue about the Desert Landing Site: he is a pilot, you know) and his Damage is too high. Which character do you think is more important to the Light side: Amidala or Ric Olie? Well they both have the same Damage, which is something of a joke. Anakin did this old man's job anyway.

Overall Usefulness: A-
I can't decide if Ric Olie is Aurra Sing's or Captain Panaka's little brother, but he is arguably just as effective as either in the right deck. He is the ideal character to help the Light side take Tatooine, and is generally effective in any deck. But if you want to maintain a high-destiny average in your deck, you are going to have to remove a couple of those Qui-Gon Jinns or Mace Windus in order to squeeze Ric Olie in. Rather than being a super-powered weenine, Ric is more like a under-powered main.

FLAVOR TEXT: "I have one battleship on my scope." - Ric Olie

SPECIFIC INTERACTING CARDS:
------------------------------------------------

No interacting cards as yet. A Ric Olie themed Battle card is not out of the question, but it certainly is pushing it.

-------------------
IN BRIEF:
-------------------

For some reason, I don't like this card as much as Captain Panaka/Protector of the Queen, even though Ric Olie/Ace Pilot appears to be a better card. It must be because I wasn't a great fan of Ric Olie's character in the movie! What bias? Seriously though, that Panaka has the same base Power as Ric is a travesty. But this is still a handy card to have around. Simply, you can deploy three copies of Ric Olie/Ace Pilot in a single turn, and if on Tatooine, you have 15 Power there already. Nice? Definitely. In fact that's easily the highest location-assisted total Power you can deploy on a single turn in the game. Just remember that when you start firing those weapons, your average destiny will not be aided by Ric Olie's Destiny of 2.

GENERAL PLAY TIPS:
-------------------------------

* Like Panaka, Ric Olie/Ace Pilot has some cool applications in a weenie/breakthrough deck. I remember referring to Panaka as the Goblin King of YJCCG, well Ric Olie... must be the Goblin Queen. I suppose in actual fact that Ric Olie is for all purposes a better character stats-wise to lead your Jawa/Gungan/Royal Guard Hordes. If you can bear including multiples of him in your deck. Panaka is just *so* much cooler! He's even got a pistol!

* The Force Quotient (FQ, like IQ) of Ric Olie/Ace Pilot is 6. The same as C-3P0/Anakin's Creation, Captain Panaka / Protector of the Queen and Ishi Tib / Warrior.

* Silly theme of today: The Superpower deck. Include all the Light characters with less Deploy than base Power (Panaka, Ric Olie, Boss Nass, Ishi Tib) and lots of Battle Cards that don't rely on Destiny. Stick to Blaster Rifles for weapons. Hey, this might actually work!

* Style tips:

- Your Ric Olie theme song: Here we go! Olie, olie, olie! Go! Go! Go! Olie, olie olie! Ricky Martin eat your heart out. Please.

- Theme deck: The Pilots. Starring Ric Olie/Ace Pilot, Anakin Skywalker/Kindergarten Student/Even Acer Pilot/Podracer Pilot, and Bravo Pilots. It really sucks that all the pilots are blue-dot.

ADDITIONS:

Up to you. Think of anything else cool about his card, or combos that you have used to great effect? What about a particular game in which this card made you win? Send anything like that to jinnandtonic@angelfire.com and I'll add it here. Tonight's Featherweight title bout: Panaka vs. Olie! My money is on Panaka, regardless of what Decipher think.
