The Unofficial Jedi's Guide to the YJCCG Galaxy is THE card strategy reference for Decipher's Young Jedi CCG. Starting with the first expansion, 'The Menace of Darth Maul', each individual card will be discussed until it can be discussed no further. Nevertheless, if I have missed something, email me at jinnandtonic@yahoo.com.au, and I will update it accordingly.

Instead of reading this entry in the Guide, you may as well read the entry for #111, #112, or #113. They are pretty similar....

jinnandtonic's Grades:

Economy: A-
Ben Quadinaros' Podracer bears a striking resemblance to three other Podracers from the Menace of Darth Maul expansion, as does its pilot to three other pilots from the same. It gives a quite tasty bonus of Power +3 and a Destiny ? draw to Ben Quadinaros, or a Destiny ? draw to any other Podracer pilot. It deploys cheaply (for only 1) and has a reasonable Destiny of 3. So overall, Ben's Podracer is quite good.

Decipher: C
Nothing really too much wrong here, but some variation in statistics between Ben's machine and *all* the other machines would be greatly appreciated. Statistically the card appears okay, and the flavor text is amusingly contradictory, and a little silly. The other possible ick associated with this card is the image, although, like the other Podracers, I am not sure what else could have been done. I mean, you'd have to be a bit nutty to be able to accurately pick which Podracer was which, out of all the ones in the game, if you were only shown the images (besides perhaps Sebulba's). So I suppose a little variation in imagery would have been welcomed, along with a couple of little adjustments to make this card *different* somehow from the other podracers.

Overall Usefulness: D
What can I say? Ben Quadinaros' Podracer is quite okay, it's a pity about Ben and the rest of his cloned cronies? If you want to really concentrate on Ben Quadinaros for some god forsaken reason and decide that multiples of him and his Podracer is the way to go, than you may well find yourself with quite a handy combination. The problem is of course that instead of Ben you could settle for Teemto and is Podracer, or Gasgano or Mawhonic. Or even Ratts or Dud or any one of the new clones fresh out of the labs from Jedi Council. But you can't really effectively use all of them at once, even if you wanted to, because matching up the pilots with the right Podracers may just be tricky enough to give you a stroke. Doh.

SPECIFIC INTERACTING CARDS:
------------------------------------------------

Ben Quadinaros, Podracer Pilot
(#80, Menace of Darth Maul, Uncommon, Green-Dot)
Well, putting it to bluntly, if you are using Ben Quadinaros in your deck then you had *better* be using his Podracer or the men in white coats will come a-knocking soon. After you add the Power bonus provided by his Podracer, Ben has Power 9 + Destiny at the Podrace Arena (7 + Destiny elsewhere), which is pretty good. Without his Podracer however, Ben is more of a liability in your deck if you are using multiples of him than a benefit.

-------------------
IN BRIEF:
-------------------

Ben Quadinaros' Podracer is a very good weapon card, more economical on its own than even Sebulba's Podracer, and yet it fails to be super-effective when used with its owner because of his averageness. By himself, Ben Quadinaros is a unique Battle Droid without all the Battle card support that Battle Droids usually have, and is identical to three other characters in the Menace of Darth Maul expansion and several more in Jedi Council. About the only thing going for Ben and his Podracer is that he has some comic value. While all the other Dark Podracers besides Sebulba are pretty much devoid of any real personality, Ben is amusingly incompetent. And fortunately, amusing incompetence often gets one far nowadays. If you are going to build a Dark Podracing theme, than I would wager that Sebulba and Ben Quadinaros would be the most popular choices. Popularity, when it comes to Podracers in YJCCG, is all that really matters. -------------------------------
GENERAL PLAY TIPS:
-------------------------------

* So your typical Podracing deck will have for starters, 5+ copies of Sebulba in the blue-dot category, along with 2+ copies of his Podracer. Green is the Podracing haven of the YJCCG galaxy, with nine Podracing possibilities to choose from. Fortunately for us, we don't have to worry: any of them will do because they are all the same. Rapturous joy! In any case, it is probably best to pick one or two of those available, and divide the possible places among each of the two, rather than include the whole fleet of Podracer pilots. So we take five each of Gasgano / Podracer Pilot and Ben Quadinaros / Podracer Pilot, and 2 copies each of their personalised podracers. Battle cards that will be helpful to such a deck would include Gruelling Contest, Opee Sea Killer and perhaps something like Start Your Engines!

* Ben Quadinaros, Podracer Pilot + Gasgano, Podracer Pilot + Ben Quadinaros' Podracer + Start Your Engines! + Destiny = 6 at Tatooine / Podrace Arena = 19 Power. Perhaps a little tricky to get together, but a nice payoff if you can manage it. This is the kind of combination that can win Dark Podracing decks matches.

* Style Tip: Show Sebulba and Anakin and the rest of those punks who the real podracing champion is around Mos Espa. Sabotage, it was. Sabotage, I tell you!

ADDITIONS:

Up to you. Think of anything else cool about his card, or combos that you have used to great effect? What about a particular game in which this card made you win? Send anything like that to jinnandtonic@yahoo.com.au and I'll add it here. One can only guess how such a bizarre alien came to be named Ben. I can think of a number of possibilities, all of them far too silly or distasteful to be mentioned here.
