Autumn In the Rockies
Selected Haiku
(C)2002 Rosemary J. Gwaltney
Brilliant sun dazzles
glow on mounting purple clouds
thunderhead afire
Last yellow rose nipped
from stem dainty deer munches
close to my window
Tractor’s hum bumbles
distant field’s dust billow crawls
driver coughs unheard
Barbed wire fence zigzags
carves pastureland from forest
scars on deer’s tan flank
Diamond strung threads
spider’s necklace drapes
stream’s slender neck
Lightning struck cedar
cracks alone twists black half falls
twenty years of moss
