REHABILITATION AND RESETTLEMENT (R & R)
Due to construction of Narayanpur and Almatti reservoirs during UKP Stage I, 41 villages under Narayanpur reservoir and 136 villages under Almatti Reservoir get submerged. During Stage II of the Project, additional 22 Villages will get submerged under the Almatti Reservoir. Land to the extent of 87,631 hectares under the two reservoirs is also being submerged and major part of Bagalkot Township under Almatti Reservoir gets affected.
The Rehabilitation and Resettlement policies of the project affected families seek not only to mitigate the impact of dislocation and to provide monetary compensation, but also seek to create and relaunch the development process with the active participation of the project affected people in order that a better standard of living at least to pre-project conditions is attained.
HUMAN RESOURCES
There are 858 Technical and 1624 Non-technical staff on deputation from the Government of Karnataka. In addition, the Managing Director and Director Finance of KBJNL are also on deputation from the Government of Karnataka. Further, KBJNL has a strength of 19 technical and 231 non-technical staff on contract basis under direct recruitment
