1888 Message Mission Statement

Of The Most Precious Message:

Because we believe that God in His great mercy sent this message through Elders Waggoner and Jones; and
Because we believe that this is the Third Angels Message of Revelation 14; and
Because we believe that this message is the Message of the angel of Revelation 18 which reads, "After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was made bright with his glory."; and
Because we believe that God has commanded this message to be given to the world; and
Because we believe that the cross is an admission of human frailty and the abasement of all human pride; and
Because we believe that all must be received as a gift ~

The Mission is to:

Set more prominently before the world the uplifted Savior
- The sacrifice for the sins of the whole world
Present justification through faith in the Surety
Invite people to receive the righteousness of Christ
- Which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God
To preach the cross irregardless of someone being offended

The Lord Sent this Message!

"The Lord in His great mercy sent a most precious message to His people through Elders Waggoner and Jones. This message was to bring more prominently before the world the uplifted Saviour, the sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. It presented justification through faith in the Surety; it invited the people to receive the righteousness of Christ, which is made manifest in obedience to all the commandments of God. Many had lost sight of Jesus. They needed to have their eyes directed to His divine person, His merits, and His changeless love for the human family. All power is given into His hands, that He may dispense rich gifts unto men, imparting the priceless gift of His own righteousness to the helpless human agent. This is the message that God commanded to be given to the world. It is the third angel's message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in a large measure." Testimonies to Ministers, p. 91, 92

And Let the Cross Be Preached....

"The offense of the cross is that the cross is a confession of human frailty and sin and of inability to do any good thing. To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. But let the cross be preached, let it be made known that in man dwells no good thing and that all must be received as a gift, and straightway someone is offended." Ellet J. Waggoner, The Glad Tidings
