Your Poetry

" As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy..."
-Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast

Deep
For Tori Amos
Soul eclipse
Surgery?
Motion

Deep?

I bit an apple once.
But the peel was
hard to chew,
the innards only
semi-sweet
and required
too much
digestion.
So, I threw it
in the garbage.

Now I am
disillusioned.

For Tori Amos

fall leaves
fail these
pale dreams
chain me
against the
grey trees

Soul eclipse

My soul eclipsed
awhile making
life entirely
too grey
Now that
shadow’s
past and since
I’m full of
light I
don’t care
who I take
straight up
to heaven
kicking and
screaming
with me

Surgery? 11/21/99

I hate the way you tell
 Me you hate me
  -so surgical
your stainless steel voice
makes
  incision
   after
  incision
 my blood, warm and sticky
leaves me
   like my words
my breathing was
   frenzied
but it approaches calm
 now
and I approach the darkness
your steps away
 mirror an iv drip
fade to black

Motion

I find myself turning in circles
inside of myself I move,
the door revolving within,
forcing the fresh air without.

My wants become needs
Changing too quickly,
For me to hold on,
For you to keep up.

I am gaining momentum,
Like the swinging pendulum,
That I imitate,
When I approach you.

I want to pose a threat.

Remember, it is the motion,
That sustains me,
Remember, it is the motion,
That repells you.
