Tech Spirit! Go Jackets!

Tech pride runs deep here at Tech, and it always has. My blood runs gold, and I am proud to be a student of Georgia Tech. To all those who couldn't quite cut it and had to go to the Basketweaving Society of the South (UGA), I'm sorry about the pounding we gave you(not really). Come back this year for more!
The following pictures are from throughout the history of Georgia Tech and depict our pride, traditions, and symbols.

Tech Tradition:
Many students have dreamed of the honor, few have succeeded. Removing the "T" from the Tech Tower is probably the most discussed and least followed through threat on Georgia Tech Campus. Over the years, security has improved and students have stepped up to the challenge. One such story can be accessed here.

Ramblin' Wreck

"I'm a ramblin' wreck from Georgia Tech...". The ramblin' wreck, shown here, totes the cheerleaders on the field and participates in many activites promoting Tech Spirit. It is also the special guest at many honor ceremonies. I had the opportunity to have my picture taken in it at a Leadership Award Ceremony for which I was a recipient. After graduation, students can use the wreck in special events, like weddings. The ramblin' Wreck has become one of the beautiful ties that bind YellowJackets together.
A tradition became reality in 1961 when a beautifully restored 1930 Model A Ford, resplendent in its coat of white and gold, made its first appearance on Grant Field. That automobile became the visualization of the tag "ramblin' wreck" that applied at various times to the student body, athletic teams and, of course, the famous fight song. The expression "Ramblin' Wreck" is believed to date back to the 1880s, according to an oral history provided by a member of Tech's first graduating class, Howard D. Cutter. The song first appeared in print in the 1908 Blueprint and subsequently was scored by Frank Roman, a version that has become one of the most recognizable school songs in the world. Today, both the song and the automobile are regarded as Tech traditions deeply imbued with the spirit of the Institute's history.
