Sometime between March and April of 1996, Freedom Creek (Sta. Ana Punk scene) suggested that we form a group whose sole purpose is for communication and correspondence among punks form different groups and tribes, thus forming some sort of a network, this idea struck us because we’ve thought of doing the same thing, only on a broader scale, by this, we mean a group that would be involved in activities which not only include networking but also d.i.y. recording, trading, conventions, gigs etc. This in turn would define this group as a movement. It would also attempt to unite on a nationwide scale, punk, oi, ska, hardcore and psychobilly into a single functioning unit.
So, we consulted other tribes from various regions and other groups who are somewhat involved in the punk/ hardcore scene (such as indie labels, fanzines, writers, distributors, etc.) if they would support the proposed movement. We explained what we had in mind, the objectives of the proposed movement, the problems and obstacles that make these objectives/ goals seem unattainable and solutions or options on how to achieve such goals. We were quite surprised and encouraged with the response, response, since we found out that almost every tribe and group has one thing in mind. Initially, a few had doubts about this proposal, but after a thorough analysis we finally got their support. There were also a few who enlisted their support but had to beg off due to diversity in musical appreciation. Then, there were the remaining few who not only refused their support but also rallied against such a movement due to the personal vested interest.
We finally decided to make this proposed movement into something more complete.
There had been attempts in the past to form such a movement, but attempts had been failures due to different and clashing ideologies of such groups. We are well aware of these barriers and the problems encountered in trying to put together such groups. Hence, this movement shall not be dictated by these ideologies or political or political inclinations, but by the common goals and objectives that would fuse or unite the punk scene together.
OBJECTIVES:
1.1 RESPECT OF VARIOUS MUSICAL INCLINATIONS, BELIEFS AND PRINCIPLES.
1.2 ELIMINATE COMPETITION AND RIVALRY AMONG MEMBERS.
