More Updates!

I will be adding pictures as things happen.
Things are just happening faster than I can get the pictures developed!

New windows!!!!

We had to replace all the windows! They would not open at all. I guess after 23 years you need to get new ones. We could only open a couple of them and then I was afraid we might not get them closed again. These new ones are MUCH better and they will go great with the stucco that they are putting on the outside of the house.

The deck has been torn out and will be replaced with a new one. The wood was starting to show it's age. We won't paint it, we like the natural look. Chester will start that one day soon. Right now he is working on getting the moldings cut and nailed in place inside so that we can get the house organized again.

The Fancy Driveway!

Now isn't that a nice driveway???? It's so fancy we don't want to drive on it! The real reason we aren't using it yet because it's not sealed. Also they told us that it is not cured underneath so it's better to not use it for 6 weeks to prevent future cracks.
I never knew that.

We have gotten many compliments on this update. They pour the cement for the squares first and let that set. Then they come a few days later, remove the forms and pour the the rest of it. They use rubber stamps to make these parts look like stones or brick. The stamped parts then are colored and sealed. They look like real stones but are actually cement.

New tile in basement......

The carpet was removed and the tile laid due to that small leak we had under the stairs. I lost one of the cedar closets. It was a great way to get the house painted though. I got rid of all the wall paper and the house painted. This leak in the basement is what started all of the other projects that we have going on right now. Chester has a story about this leak. Turns out there was a sump crock under the stairs in the basement. No drain or sump, just the crock with standing water in it. Chester started to pull the stairs out because the water ruined them and saw a small 4" or so sized hole in the cement. Curiousity got to him and he went the flashlight to see what else was learking there. He ended up taking all the stairs out and was amazed that they would leave this like that! SO....we had to have the walls sealed and a sump pump installed to get the water out. Next we had to figure out what caused the water to come in! That turned into many more problems. Well as it turns out, there was a pipe for the sprinkler line that cracked and then the water followed the septic line into the house. So every time it rained or the sprinklers came on the basement would leak. It's an even longer story than that but I tried to shorten it for you!

This is the Red Wings bar the we put in the basement. We love it and it goes good with the rest of the pictures and things that we have collected. It's all done in a Red Wings theme.
