Welcome to the Differential Calculus Web pages of Rashid and Mohammed. We are both third year students following a program in Computer Engineering at Etisalat College of Engineering, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. After you have looked at our pages we hope that you will also visit our College Web page at http://www.ece.ac.ae

The purpose of these pages is to provide a simple well presented on-line tutorial on the Differential Calculus for persons new to the subject. Our presentation is divided up into five parts. The Introduction, which you are now reading, three fundamental lessons and finally a short quiz and practice section.

Lesson 1 explains the most fundamental concept of the Differential Calculus namely that the Derivative represents the slope of a curve and that we can calculate its value using a special kind of limit.

Lesson 2 introduces us to the idea of using simple rules to calculate the Derivative so that we can avoid the more complicated limit definition in most problems. One of the simple rules that we present in this lesson is also the best known and is called the Power Rule for Differentiation.

Lesson 3 continues to present rules for Differentiation, which include the rules, which enable us to Differentiate products and quotients of two functions.

Finally we conclude with a short Quiz section which will enable our readrs to Test the skills that they have learned in our lessons. Now please read on and begin to enjoy this fascinating subject with us.
