The Weekly Paper
of Ash Flats
Volume II
Eye witness report
A prospector early yesterday morning narrowly missed being
caught in the middle of a gang fight. The prospector, who asked that his
identity not be revealed, was scavenging near an abandoned dome east of
Ash Flats. The floor of the dome was knee deep in a thick black tar.
"I seen 'em both", reports the prospector.
"One bunch was all women, musta been Eschers an' the others
was Goliaths for sure. I could tell cuz dey was so big an’ had orange mohawks.
Two groups of ‘em were runnin’ an’ screamin’ tryin’ ta bash da other, while
most o’ da other-uns just hid and fired wildly. In fact one o’ them bullies
almost got me in ta foot. “Most every body was on high
walkways and ruined structures cuz the ground was all covered in tar, but
not me, no sir it was safer in the muck.
“Both sides ‘ad one of dem big 'eavy stubbers and just
kept firing. Dat an' the others guns made the 'ole dome ring an' echo,
thought I might go deaf. At one point two Escher girlies tried runnin'
'cross dis catwalk an' got 'it by the Goliaths 'eavy stubber. Dey both
fell to the ground an got stuck in the tar. Off to one side a couple of
Goliaths tried to get closer to the Eschers by hidin' behind dis big pump
thingy. But the Escher leader 'it one wiv her boltgun and her friend shot
ta other-un. The Goliaths seemed to 'ave gone berserk an' the Eschers looked
as if they’d shoot any man they saw. Dat's when I got wise and left, but
even when I was a long way away down a tunnel I could still 'ear 'em fighting
an’ a screamin’."
The prospector says that either he's going to start traveling better armed or perhaps move on to a quieter area. So far like many of the recent skirmishes neither gang has been identified.
Guilder sanctions lifted.
Following the attack on a Guilder two weeks
ago, local merchants had been refusing to trade with suspects under
investigation. Now those citizens are breathing easier this week since
the Guilders have ended sanctions. Watchmen investigating the incident
have determined that none other than the notorious outlaw Harlon Knucklebreaker
perpetrated the attack. This man is still on the loose and should be considered
armed and dangerous.
Skirmishes, hit and run raids, as well as out right attacks on various gang owned territories have all occurred recently.
Shoot outs have erupted in a number of small settlements around Ash Flats this week. As the body count continues to rise, we have been lucky so far to see that no innocent bystanders have been injured. The combatants seemed more concerned with each other then raiding and mugging the locals.
The local Watchmen believe that no less then a half dozen gangs have been involved. And have vowed to bring an end to the violence. To this end the Guilders have enlisted a new gang into the ranks of the Watchmen. The Escher gang the Redlight Renegades were officially sworn in this week.
