ABOUT MYSELF

Hi! I am glad to welcome you to my site. I am not exactly sure why I started building the site, but it turned out to be fun, so here it is and I hope that you like it. I also hope that you find something interesting for yourself here, be it a handy link or a funny joke. This site is really about fun. Well, most of it anyway. It is great to have it when you have your friends and your family scattered all over the world, so at least we can visit each other over the Net as often as we like.

A big part of this site is about mountain biking, as you have noticed. The reason is that mountain biking is what I am really mad about. As I explained in the photogallery biking was what brought me into the Net in the first place. You see, I started biking in Moscow and strangely enough most of the people who are seriously into biking in Moscow are seriously into computers at the same time. I had nothing to do with the IT when I started surfing, and I don't at the moment, but the habit stayed so here I am building my site and really having fun while doing it.

Honestly, the biking crowd is what I miss most about Russia, not that there are no bikers in the UK, there is a lot, it is the attitude to life which is different, I guess. That is why I am using every opportunity to get to Russia and ride around with my friends there, who are still as cheerful as they used to be even though many of them have been hit hard by the Russian economic crisis. Being able to stay cool irrespectively of the external conditions is another thing that is typical of those guys, by the way. I think that they may be the only people back there, who are not complaining about the situation when I talk to them. Indeed, everything is OK if your wheels are rolling, you have enough grease in your bushings and your chain is in a good condition.

I also have two cocker spaniels in Russia, that I could not bring over to the UK because of the stupid law on 6 months quarantine here. During these 6 months the dogs have to be kept locked in cages and few survive the sentence. Those who do survive are coming out with a severe psychological trauma, I believe, and I do not want to subject my dogs to this thing.

I was born in Moscow and have lived there most of my life. I graduated in 1990 and since then I have been working both in Russia and in various places like UK, Kuwait, Singapore, Papua-New-Guinea, etc. I love to travel and so far I have managed to continue going places. I often go to the States where my parents and my younger brother live.
