ISO/TC23/SC19/WG3/N250

__________________________________________________

ISO//WG3 meeting in Mainz on Nov 16+17, 2000.

__________________________________________________

Conclusions/Actions as agreed on at the end of the meeting:

  1. The development of the RFID market requires conformance and performance testing of ISO 11784, 11785 protocols. We will give the development of these protocols the highest priority.
  2. This implies that:
    * TWG will receive full support of WG3

    * a time schedule has been agreed for the evaluation of user requirements and the development
of conformance protocols (see Appendix 1)

  3. The extra clauses of New Zealand regarding the ISO 11784/11785 standards will be distributed (see Appendix 2)
  4. Backward compatibility of "ISO"- readers for 30 years as described in Annex A in ISO 11785 must is an important option. The suppliers of readers will be informed
  5. The Unified protocol for Advanced transponders has been selected as a base for ISO-14223 part 2. The TWG will focus on this protocol only.
  6. The work schedule of TWG allows for up to 4 meetings in 200101. The workload to handle both the development of the test protocols (see item 2) as the development of the Unified protocol will become too high.
    The agreed solution is:
    * maximal support of both ICAR as WG3
    * raising the manufacturer funds to cope with the organising costs
    * splitting the tasks
  7. Achieving a primary status for the ISO 11785 frequency in the ITU seems impossible.
  8. An ITU Draft Recommendation for Short Range Devices frequencies was prepared and already approved in the recent October ITU meeting. The ITU Recommendation cares for the growing importance for regulations for RFID frequency bands .

Work on the LF transmitter mask for the ISO 14223 was approved in ETSI/ERC and compliance evaluation work to the other services is scheduled.

  9. European PETNET is operational. Detailed information will be added to the minutes. The web address is: www.europetnet.com
  10. IDEA progress/problems are reported in the last meeting in Brussels on Oct.23, 2000
    * This project has been extended until the end of 2001
    * clarification will be asked about the use of "ISO" readers from EG/DG Agriculture
  11. ISO/CS will be asked for documents regarding the procedure of the revision of standards
  12. Next meeting will be in Malaga on May 3+4, 2001. The second meeting in 2001 will be on Sept 13+14, Place not defined.
