1st October edition

The heat seems to be off Eve and Steve about their attraction for the moment, which is good, since the heat is most certainly on elsewhere on Bondi. Paul's got more than his fair share of troubles, Alex has confronted him about being the father of Monique's daughter, Lara, after getting lectured by Paul about responsibility. Paul is denying this, even though it is apparently true, and who wouldn't? Would you admit to fathering an invisible child? On the subject of confrontation, Paul is better at receiving than giving. He's really not keen on having to tell his son Danny that the reason he doesn't want him hanging around with Vince is that Vince is gay. Why? It's obvious. I thought that all universally adored, blonde male-models who only wore pink shirts were. Why can't soaps have an unpopular, deformed homosexual who works as a butcher or something? Vince, of course, only seems just to be working out who or what he is for himself, having ended up underneath Danny during one of those soap male-bonding scraps and totally freaked out. We can, now say for certain that Vince is gay, since these scenes only occur on TV so that the character can realise that they are. Obviously, Vince is one VERY screwed up chap, but Borris was, as ever, there behind the cafe to offer advice, and we also got a little glimpse (figuratively) of the man behind the weird checked trousers, telling Vince a little of his own stormy youth. QUESTION - Why has Kate's Cafe not yet been closed down by the Health & Safety when all the staff seem to spend their lives ferreting around by the bins? And another thing, does Borris work for the FBI or something? He seems to know everything about everyone! He's even sussed out that Serge is only after Nina so that he can stay in the country. He's even POSTING his love letters to her, just the sort of evidence the Authorities like. This, to me, is a further clue that Serge is not, in fact French Canadian , as he keeps saying, but something far more sinister. After all, if the Austalians won't let in people from Canada, possibly the world's most inoffensive nation, what hope is there for the rest of us?
