The Info-Booth
This is where you can find all those little knick-nacks of knowledge you might need if you're new. If you hear something, dont know what it means, and it isn't up here...tell me, and I'll get on it when I can.
Abreviations, Word Usage, and Termenology:
- A 'Newbie' is a person who is either a recently made citizen, a person not yet made a citizen, or an old citizen who acts immaturely.
- An 'Elder' is someone who's been in here for a VERY long time.
- LoL means Laugh out Loud
- Brb means Be right Back (I hope you knew that one)
- ROTFL means Rolling On The Floor Laughing.
- ROTFLMAO means Rolling On The Floor Laughing My Ass Off. Try to say that five times fast.
- RPG means Role playing Game and RP means to Role Play. (Another two I truly hope you knew.)
- OOC means Out of Character. This is most commonly used when you're RPing and you want to say something like, "Hey Joe, whats your I/M name?" IC means In Character.
- I/M means Instant Messanger. Click Here to go get it. I dunno if you have to have AOL or not...I dont THINK you do, but...
- G.P. means Gold Pieces. G.P. is the standard type of money in Griffonsoil.
- ICQ is the Instant Messanging service a few people use. Most people have this in addition to AOL I/M, but I only use ICQ. Skan Erreden and I decided that ICQ stands for 'I Seek You'.
All about the Story Line Board: (Confusing But Important!)
- This is a topic of confusion for a lot of people, both new to the Online-RPing world and for older participents. The system for fighting and for adventuring in a SLRP (Story Line Role Play) is a lot different than normal RPs. This system combines methods from Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Final Fantasy Tactics and from the Warhammer series, so if you're not familiar with both, please pay attention.
- You, as a player in an SLRP, do not say what you see. I tell you what you see, what you hear and smell, and what you feel. You can, however, ask me questions on to what you see, hear, smell, and such, and I will tell you. There will be cases where I wont tell you something important unles you ask. So make sure to ask a lot of questions. You also can describe your weapons, clothes, spells, and what they look like and such. I mean, after all, it's your stuff.
- Here's the complex part. You do not say if you hit someone, if a spell works as planned, if an arrow hits or something of that sort. This is where those pesky SLRP numbers come in.
- WS means Weapon Skill, or how good you are with close-quarters weapons. This rating goes from 0-10, and may drop signifigently if you are not using your weapon of proficiency. If two people have the same WS, it will take a 4+ to hit them. If two people, however, have different WS, things change. Take Bob and George. Bob has a WS of 4, but George has on of 3. For Bob to hit George, he'll need a 3+ to hit, as he is better in close-combat. For george to hit Bob, he'll need a 5+, because he's not as skilled. DO NOT hesitate to ask me what you need to hit something; Im more than able to figure it out! ^_^
- BS means Balistic Skill, or how good you are with a ranged weapon. This also ranges from 1-10, and may also drop signifigently if you are not using your weapon of proficiency. It follows the same rules as Weapon Skill.
- MS means Magic Skill, or how good you are with your type of Magic. This also ranges from 1-10, and may also drop signifigently if you are not using your strongest Magic type. It follows the same rules as Weapon Skill.
- A means Attacks, or how many attacks you get in close-combat and in Magic. This has no bearing on ranged weapons, as they can only be fired once every so often. Note that when you charge your foe, you get +1 attacks.
- W means Wounds, or how many hits you can take before biting the dust. If you are at 0 wounds for 3 turns, you are legally dead. You can be brought back to life in many different ways, some easy, some hard; it's just a metter of how corny you want to get.
- I means Initiative, or how fast you are. This determines who goes first in combat, and it cycles from the highest Initiative down to the lowest, then back to the highest, and so forth. You get a +1 Initiative bonus when you charge, the the bonus only lasts until your next turn.
- S means Strength, or how strong you are. This only counts in close-combat fighting, not in Ranged or Magic combat. You use your Strength against your target's Toughness and see if you can wound him. The highest Strength possible is 10.
- T means Toughness, or how resistent to wounds you are. This counts in almost all fighting cases, and is only nullfied by Psi-magics. To wound or get wounded, you work it out very similar to WS rolls; a S of 4 and a T of 4 needs a 4 to wound, etc etc. the highest Toughness is 10.
- AS means Armor Save. This determines what kind of armor you're wearing and how much protection it gives you. When you get wounded, you normally get an Armor Save to see if the armor takes the punishment and not you. Armor Saves can not be used when wounded by a Strength that's double or more your Toughness, or by Weapons with a low AP.
- AP means Armor Penetration, or how much 'bite' the weapon has. If the AP of your weapon is equal to or lower than your target's Armor Save, he doesn't get to make that save. AP doesn't work against vehicals.
- Armor: Front, Side and Rear indicates how much armor is on a vehical or monster, and where it is. Lets say that a Baby Dragon has an all-around Armor of 10. You would need a Strength 4 Weapon to harm it, then need a roll of 6 on my dice. (S4+6=10.) If you just equal the armor, you count as 'Glancing' the target. If your roll equals more than the target's armor, you count as 'Penetrating'. the stuff. Once you Glance or Penetrate the Armor, I roll another dice to see what happens. The charts for the Glancing and Penetrating results are below. The highest Armor something cane have is 16.
Possible Results for Glancing a Target:
- 1- Stunned; May not move next turn.
- 2- Shaken; May not move or attack next turn.
- 3- Weapon Destroyed; Attacker chooses one of the victim's weapons, and the victim may not use it for the rest of the fight.
- 4- Weapon Destroyed; Attacker chooses one of the victim's weapons, and the victim may not use it for the rest of the fight.
- 5- Immobilized; May not move for the rest of the fight.
- 6- Destroyed; Vehicals are blown up and monsters take a wound.
Possible Results for Penetrating a Target:
- 1-Shaken; May not move or attack next turn.
- 2- Weapon Destroyed; Attacker chooses one of the victim's weapons, and the victim may not use it for the rest of the fight
- 3- Immobilized; May not move for the rest of the fight.
- 4- Destroyed; Vehicals are blown up and monsters take a wound.
- 5- Destroyed; Vehicals are blown up twice (very hard to restore) and monsters take 2 wounds.
- 6- Annihilated!; Vehicals are blown away and monsters take 3 wounds.
