A Ha!
Topic: Weightloss Journey
I've noticed that so many people do a little ditty about their journey. So I guess that it's time to get myself going too.
It all started a year and a half before I got married. That would be 2000. I weighed 220-something and my grandmother paid to have me go to the LA Weightloss Center that was in town. I did really great on it and by May of 2001, I had gotten down to 180. My mom, grandparents and I went to FL for a vacation after my graduation from the State University of NY at Geneseo. I fell off the wagon a little bit, but thought I could go back to it all.
I fluctuated throughout the rest of the year and during my final fitting with my dress that my grandmother had made, I made a huge effort to exercise regularly so that my dress was sure to fit. Wedding day came and went. My hubby and I went to Walt Disney World for our honeymoon and lived it up!
I didn't know that the first few months of marriage could be difficult, but I ballooned up to 230lb again. In May of 2002, I found out I was pregnant. YIKES! I weighed 233 when I found out I was pregnant. Over the next few months, I gained an excessive amount of weight. By the time December rolled around, I had pregnancy induced hypertension and was put on strict bedrest for the last month of pregnancy.
When I "gave birth" to our daughter on January 17, 2003 via c-section, I weighed at least 300lb! I shed 20lb rather quickly after she was born, but didn't shed the other stuff quite so easily. I nearly died when I couldn't get into a size 26 jean!
In August of 2003, I joined Weight Watchers online and started losing again. I walked a lot with my daughter. It was our way of getting around town. If it was 40 degrees, it was a good day to walk. I never did make it to my 10% goal and had started to slowly creep back up when our life was in turmoil over where we would be living (February - March 2004). Our life in upstate NY was over for this season in our lives, but a new one was about to begin in Arizona.
As we began our life in AZ, my weight began to creep up even higher during the summer/fall of 2004. Come the end of December 2004, my weight had crept back up to 270. YIKES again!! As do many other people, I made a New Year's resolution to NEVER be that way again! I started on eDiets, which I quickly found out was NOT for me. So...I came back to Weight Watchers online. I've been doing it ever since.
I'm now going into my 10th month and feel REALLY great! And hey...I look great too. I go to aerobics on a regular basis and workout at home too. I wouldn't be where I am today without regular exercise. This has to be a lifestyle change. I want to be healthy for my family and for any future little ones that I may have.
