Leven is a four piece band hailing from Iowa City,Iowa. Formed in Jan. of 2002, Leven has established themselves as one of the most passionate, sincere, diverse and hard working bands in the region. Leven has toured all over the midwest and opened for numerous national acts. Leven has set themselves apart from other bands by their intense stage shows and unique style of heavy/melodic progressive rock. Musically, Leven cannot be grouped into one category. The music is melodic, heavy, brutal, beautiful, ethereal, and constantly in metamorphosis. Every song is a different emotion and idea with the same thread of truth running through each one. Each song is totally different from the next, yet they all hold the same spirit. Leven is influenced by such bands as Deftones, Living Sacrifice, Tool, The Used, Project 86, Mudvayne, A Perfect Circle. Each member is influenced by different genres of music and the result is a conglomeration of many different styles. Leven is a band. Leven is also an ideal. Leven is about absolute truth and perfect love through the death of ones' selfishness within the flesh. Leven believes in unconditional love, forgiveness, and redemption through Jesus. Leven does not stand in judgment of anyone, this is not their role. Music is worship. Music stirs the spirit and emotions. Music is something more than sound and noise. Leven desires to connect with the audience, to move and inspire them. Leven believes music should be more than hype and gimmick. They desire to take off all the masks and show what is real. Leven is a band with a message of hope and truth- no gimmick, no facade, just passionate music from the heart. I give this band a high 7 out of 10, For great songs, awsome stage performance and apperence.They could work on getting the crowd worked up more but still there awsome try and see them when you can!
