Water polo is a game of strength, quickness and endurance. Ball handling skills and exceptional swimming ability are especially important with the mobile, fast-paced style of game play.
The Urbandale team is a combination of Urbandale, Johnston and Waukee High Schoolers. Coach Dan Lake started the water polo team this year, taking after Valley High School which also has a team. Water polo is currently only a club sport and does not receive the funding of the school.
There are two other local high school teams which Urbandale competes regularily with. These teams include Valley High School and Roosevelt High School.
