Saturday March 22nd

The bar crawl gave both Bart and I lots of incentive to sleep in. We were finally up and about around 12 or 1 and roamed around the streets for a while eventually heading to the beach again for a few hours. We were pretty hung over and just looking for a way to pass the day, the beach was a great idea for that.

Because the bar crawl beat us up so much, we spent a lot of the day here on the beach...good recovery time.

After wasting time on the beach, we headed to the Rambla and wandered it at great length. When we had gone as far north on it as you could we decided to try to look at a map and find a shorter walk home¡¦well, it ended up being a longer walk home. That was okay, we weren¡¯t really too far off coarse and we got to see a little more of the city. And then headed back for dinner.

We found a great restaurant with a 2 courses 1 desert and our drink for 6 euro. The food was great and it was really close to our hostel. For the second course we both had steak and fries. Right by this restaurant was the grocery store and it was Barts turn to buy the liquor for the night. He chose Absinth. Ouch.

So we are sitting the commons area of our hostel lighting spoons filled with sugar on fire. Before too long the rest of our homeboys show up and want to try this stuff. Bart bought the bottle for the two of us and before long we had dished out a majority of the bottle. The generous kid from Montreal recognized the problem and went to the grocery store to buy more. He came back with two more bottles, and that ended the night for me. I think we drank all 3 bottles (140 proof) Don¡¯t jump to any conclusions like, ¡°jesse¡¯s an alcoholic¡± I was with people from Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. I have heard people from all of those countries can booze like it¡¯s no bodies business.

I ended up tossing the cookies in the computer lab and trying to sleep on the floor in there.. the memories I have from the night were good but hazy. I regret not making it out of the hostle but it was nice hanging out with people from all over the world.
