Monday was St. Patricks day. They dont go crazy for St. Patricks day here I'm starting to get the impression Americans look for reasons to drink. Since the French dont like to get hammered they dont feel that its necessary to celebrate on March 17th. Anyway, as you can probably imagine the students of IAU and other American Universities here in Aix still manage to go find the local Irish pubs and have a good time.
Like I said I had an exam in Econ in the morning and then a presentation at 4 oclock for international business. I know my mom and dad dont want to hear this but this past midterm week was far and away the most unprepared I had ever been for any test. So far on the exams Ive gotten back Im still above water.
I was able to wake up and take my test on Monday morning because we passed out early. After the exam I met up with Bart, we got some lunch, then he roamed around while I got ready for this presentation. I probably should have put a little more time into the presentation seeing how it was worth 30 percent of my grade, but the explanation-equation looks something like this:
Im in France + Im a procrastinator + I had company = not prepared for presentation
So Bart spent a majority of the day wandering around by himself, but at 6 oclock when I finished my presentation we got together, had dinner and went down to Carolines and Julia's and drank heavily in the name of St. Patrick. After that we went to the Red Clover, where thanks to the alcohol, I dont remember much. Bart got into a pretty serious argument with another American about the war. It almost came to blows the one positive thing about that night was that we came away without spending a single euro, because we never even went inside the Red Clover.
Keep in mind that I dont remember much from this night because that will come into play later on in the trip.
Also on a side note. That presentation actually didnt go too bad. We managed to throw together a passing PowerPoint presentation on the pros cons of the expansion of the EU.
