That Lasting Moment

I collect my things off of your bedroom carpet
I slowly leave your appartment
Completely numb, the feeling in my lungs is clenching
I slowly let out a breath
I walk along the pavement with a soul
That's tugging at my shirt to go back
God-damn all of those times I told you that I loved you
They were all in vain

What a tragic way to spend our final day

I slowly slip into the shower and wash off
All the pain you've caused me
Eyes are stinging, mixing with the water
Running down the drain to nowhere
When I thought this was going to happen
I figured it would be so easy
I didn't anticipate, how much you meant to me
Until the day you left me

The chorus in my mind, yelling at me to stay
