Hi Everybody, LeeAnn and I recently returned from the Star Tracks celebration
in beautiful Las Vegas. I wanted to share some of the experiances I
had with everyone out there. We arrived in Las Vegas Friday afternoon
around 3pm. and rode a shuttle bus to the Venitian Hotel and Casino. After
checking in we had time to check out our suites, and I must say these were
the largest hotel rooms I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. They
were decorated in yellow and blue with fancy drapery, adn some interesting
noodle shaped pillows. There was even a small refridgerator in the
room full of drinks and snacks (but they cost xtra) but it was a cool idea.
Coming from a small town and never having stayed anywhere fancier than
a Holiday Inn, I got a good laugh when my guest came running out of the restroom
to tell me there was a phone placed conveniantly next to the toilet. Pizza
Hut provided black nautica T-Shirts for everyone embroidered with gold writing
"Veni, Vidi, Vici" which is Italion for "I came, I saw, I conquered." We
also recieved caps, namebadges, and personal stamps to share with managers
from around the nation. The managers were involved in a competition
to see who could get 200 different persons stamps in their passport book
1st. The first 2 managers to achieve this would recieve $200 cash.
At 5pm we had a dinner banquet on the roof of the 4th floor rooftop. It
was a beautiful night, and the food and drink were superb. We had a
great time and met many of the company "Big Shots", everyone was very friendly.
Following the banquet, we crossed the street to Treasure Island and
viewed the show "Le Mystere'". It was fabulous. After the show
we were free to do as we pleased, so my guest and I chose to walk down the
boulevard and see some sights. The volcano and dancing fountains were
great, and the Paris casino was fascinating. Unfortuneately we became
lost in the Desert Passage (a gigantic indoor mall) and came out without
a clue to where we were. Thankfully, like a moth to a light, we followed
the bright beam illuminating from the tip of the Luxor to return to the main
road. We spent time exploring both NewYork NewYork and Excalibur, each
with many sights to see. We finally returned to the Venitian around
4am (6am by our time) to catch a nap. When we woke up 4 hours later,
my legs protested to any movement I tried to make, actually I think I still
have blisters on my feet!!! Saturday morning we took a cab to the Stratosphere
and rode the Bigshot and High-Roller, a roller coaster, that are located
at least 50 stories above ground. It was very exhilirating. For
lunch we ate at the Stratosphere's revolving resturant. It offers a
breath-taking view of the entire city. We walked back to the hotel
(maybe 4 miles), to the distress of our already exhausted feet. The
evening brought more excitement for us as we got suited up for the Star Tracks
Awards Ceremony.
