These virtually indestructible cast-iron pots are renowned for cooking food evenly; there are even Dutch-oven fan clubs and cook-offs! Lodge has been making Dutch ovens for more than 100 years, and this particular model is designed for outdoor use (its flat flanged lid allows cooks to place hot coals on top, and its legs withstand any campfire), but it works indoors also. Though enthusiasts claim the Dutch oven can cook anything, this 6-quart, 12-inch model is specifically recommended for cakes, pies, and breads.
