My First Trip to New York City

Ok, here for you all (tada!) are my pics from my recent trip to Manhattan. It was definitely the most amazing trip of my life. I was the first person in my ENTIRE family to go there. By walking alone in NYC, I have faced a lifelong fear, and I am now a stronger person for it. Many thanks to Max for making the entire weekend possible, and for making it the adventure that it was. I feel so blessed... :D

Most of these pics need no explanation. Although I will explain one thing, because I didn't know this when I first saw Ground Zero, and perhaps there are other people that don't realize it either. The colorful (or sometimes black) areas/blocks/screens you see on the buildings around Ground Zero are nets/netting. Some of the surrounding buildings were so damaged in the collapse of the Twin Towers (but didn't fall themselves) that the nets were put up to protect the rescuers from falling debris.

And also, I fully respect it if you decide not to look at the pictures of Ground Zero. In my pictures, it looks like nothing more than a construction site. But I've noticed that it can be a painful sight for people who knew what it looked like when the towers were there.

And now... New York City... :D
