[From Herbert Broughton e-mail 17 Aug 2000] 1860 Federal Census, Monroe County, Alabamalists Joseph Broughton, age 10, in the household of Nathaniel R. Brown (son of Paschal and Sarah Brown). This Joseph Broughton was Joseph Nettles Broughton, the youngest child of Nathaniel W. Broughton and Nancy Ann Nettles. Nancy Nettles Broughton died 1859. Nathaniel R Brown died in a POW camp in IL at toward the end of the Civil War. His widow and children moved from Monroe to Escambia Co AL in the late 1870s.

Jesse's children were: Thomas, William, Elizabeth, Paschal, and Henry. In late 1700's Jesse was overseer of a large plantation near Roanoke/Lynchburg VA - e-mailed her to get more information on Paschal 30 Aug 2000
