Information provided by Annie Mae Culpepper. "Thomas "Tom" Jefferson Martin was tall and of slender build. He had blue eyes and wore a mustache. Thomas was very quiet with little to say. He was a farmer and a good provider for his family even though they never owned their own home. Susie was a rather large lady with blue eyes. She had lots of Irish blood in her which was indicated by the little tiny blood vessels or red streaks in her face. She had dark brown hair. When Susie and Thomas said no, they meant no. There was no use in the children even thinking about arguing with them. They were good neighbors. They would go out of their way to help anyone who needed their help."
