McMillan, Crawford, h, 59, widowed, b AL, both parents b AL, farmer, rents farm, can't read or write
McMillan, Lillie Mae, d, 13, b AL

[from Juanita Coleman White Dove, granddaughter of Crawford Andress McMillian, as told to me December 2000] Crawford McMillian and his wife, Eliza Mason McMillian, lived in Mexia, near Highway 84, in Monroe County, Alabama. He had at least one brother, Charles, who lived near Clarke County (Charles McMillian had no children). According to Juanita, Crawford wasn't extremely bright, but had good land and hard-working sons to work the land. After Crawford and Eliza's sons went off to war, they sold the farm and moved to Century (prob. between 1912-1915), Florida, where he worked with a sawmill. Eliza died while they were living there (1917). All of their children were grown, except Lillie Mae, who went to live with her older sister Mamie McMillian and her husband James William Coleman. Crawford McMillian moved back to Monroe County, where he worked odd janitorial jobs, until he got a position as an "overseer" on the "Carter Place". At that time, Lillie Mae moved back home with her father (by 1920). He later (after 1920) met and married a widow from Bermuda, and moved there to live with her. He is buried there, next to his second wife. The children didn't care much for Crawford's second wife, so there was not much contact after that time.
