No capture, parole on later record found as of said organization which in Nov 1863 became part of the 59 Ala Inf. On the roll of Co B that Reg't for Jan and Feb 1864. S.J. White is shown as Corp. absent without leave wounded 14 Dec. Furloughed 27 Dec for 30 days from Montgomery Springs Va. On roll for Jan and Feb 1865. Next on file, he is shown as "deserted 25 Feb, supposed to the enemy." Union records report him received by Provost Marshal General, Army of the Potomac 26 Feb 1865 as a deserter from the enemy and sent to P.M. Gen. Washington D.C. where rec'd 1 Mar 1865. He took the oath and was furnished transportation to Pittsbur Pa. No later record found."
