pg. 8 - Family tradition indicates that Peter emigrated from County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Evidence of immigration date from leter of Frank W. Quin, great-grandson of Peter Quin, to Mrs. Madge Quin Fugler 2 Feb 1939)
Peter Quin's name appears on the pay rolls as a Private in James Knox's Company, 8th Virginia Regiment. He enlisted for two years, dates unknown. The period covered by this payroll was 25 May 1776 to 30 Apr 1777, with his time to expire on 10 Apr 1778. In Aug or Sep 1777, he transfered to Thomas Berry's Company in the same regiment. His name last appears on muster rolls Jan 1778, dated 4 Feb 1778 for a part of the 8th Virginia Regiment "whose time expires before the 19th of April next." Peter Quin was "present" for this roll. No later record of his war service has been discovered. (From the Adjutant General's Office, The War Department, 24 Jan 1913). The DAR has accepted this record. The DAR Chapter in McComb MS, organized by Mrs. Madge Quin Fugler is name "The Judith Robinson Chapter"
The Holmesville Cemetery in east Pike County, Mississippi is at the site of Peter Quin, Sr.'s homestead. The cemetery was restored in the 1950's
