the Cure

the echo that is love

music is a passion of mine. i believe that music and life are inseparable.

right now:

I'm fascinated by Byzantine chant and hymns right now. On the more modern front, I'm getting into the Eels and Elastica; as always, I'm loving Ben Folds Five.

i listen to all types of music, from medieval to jazz to showtunes.

Fiona Apple
Jeff Buckley
Nine Inch Nails
Smashing Pumpkins
Depeche Mode
Black Tape for a Blue Girl
Ani Difranco

Dave Matthews Band
Diana Krall
U2
Elvis Costello

Cursive

the list goes on and on.

my favorite album of all time is Boys for Pele by Tori Amos. it's a remarkable work of art and holds a special place in my heart. i started listening to Tori during a big transition in my life, and BFP is an album for every mood; i never get sick of it.

my favorite Broadway show is Les Miserables. it's also the first show i saw.

my favorite composer is Claude Debussy, and my favorite pieces are "La Fille avec Cheveux de Lin" and "La Cathedrale Engloutie." I also love Maurice Ravel. I love most music from the romantic period. i'm a big 20th century fan, too. Antonin Dvorak and Bela Bartok are two of my favorites.

as for jazz, i adore Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughn.

as I said, i believe that music and life are inseparable. music is certainly inseparable from my life: i've loved it for as long as i can remember. i live through my music, i express, i feel. i'm a passionate person because of music; likewise, my music is intense because i am passionate- i feel deeply. i always have some music on- i can't live without it. music is a subject that i won't shut up about if you get me started. :)
