DIMENSIONS 1.3
An hour and a half later, we found our way to the dining room. It was dark green and huge, with crystal chandeleirs and marble tables covered with cream silk tablecloths. It looked like a five star restaurant. I hadn’t eaten anything all day, and just now was it dawning on me that I was starving.
“What a big dining room…” I whispered under my breath. I was alone at the moment, I had left a little later than Chrysy and Crush.
“Hey there! I’m Caroline, a cook. What rank are you?” A woman dressed in formal clothes asked me at the door.
“I’m…a recruit.” I said.
“Recruit table is over there.” She said, pointing.
“Thank you.” I said, and walked over to one of the long tables. I took a seat between Crush and Beryl. “Hey Crush.
“Hey!”
All of a sudden, I heard a girl yelling quite loudly, “Excuse me! Royalty coming through!” She was tall and thin with a very nice body, which she proudly showed off in a sexy pink and orange dress. She had purple hair and eyes, and was so gorgeous she looked like a model come out of a magazine. When she noticed people staring at her, she smiled and waved. “Hi! I’m sure you all remember me!”
Jordan walked out of the kitchen, in a long sleeve blue shirt. When she saw him her smile widened.
“Jordy! My baby!” She yelled, running to him.
“Kaylan! It’s not safe here! What are you doing?” Jordan said, acting affectionately worried about this girl.
“What a great greeting. How about this?” She said, and wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a passionate kiss. I understood now, she was his girlfriend.
Jordan pulled back after a while, smiling, but then his stern look came back. “Seriously, Kaylan, you need to go.”
“Not before I tell you something.” She said, sounding serious all of a sudden. “Now, don’t freak out. I’ve been wanting to tell you for a long time, but it’s kind of hard, you know? I’m not exactly a refugee from Dimension 3, like I said.” Jordan gave her a strange look, trying to read her mind.
“Then…what are you?”
“I’m actually the first crown princess of Dimension 3.” She took a necklace with a crystal star out of her pocket. I didn’t know it at the time, but that was a symbol of the royalty of Dimension 3. “I know this wont change our relationship.” She said, in more of a hopeful tone than a confident tone.
“Of course it will! Are you crazy? How could you keep this a secret from me? I’ve been dating the enemy the whole time! Aaargh!” Jordan said, obviously getting very worked up. I can’t blame him, this was a huge blow.
“But Jordan! I’m still the same person! And I still love you!” Kaylan pleaded, reaching up towards him.
He pushed her arms away and turned his back on her, walking away. “Kaylan, we need to take a break. Things are too crazy right now. I can’t date you while your father kills my people.” He made a good point, and left the dining room. I didn’t see him the rest of the night.
“But Jordan!” Kaylan cried as he left.
A few of the elites powered up, looking ready to blast Kaylan in case she decided she was angry enough to try and kill a few people. She rolled her eyes at them.
“Shows how much you guys trust me. I may be the daughter of Emperor Speer, but I am not my father. I wouldn’t kill you. Later.” She left them standing there.
“Poor girl…men are scum.” I whispered to Crush, who nodded. I sympathized with her. My boyfriend from freshman year had dumped me when he found out a secret I was hiding from him. I’d told him that I was a sophomore, and he decided he didn’t want to date freshmen “scum”.
Melody walked up onto a little stage with decorative curtains in the background. She spoke to everyone in the dining room, who had quieted down and taken their seats by now.
“Okay everybody. In the absence of Jordan, I have been appointed to lead the dinner speeches. Security has just been tightened in case this news upsets Emperor Speer.” And so she went on with the announcements, though I was too busy thinking to listen.
After dinner, which was delicious, I changed and took a walk on the beach, stopping finally after a few hours on a lookout over the water.
“Indy…are you okay?” I swung around and Crush was standing there, shivering in the cold, since she was only in a pink tank top and a flowered skirt.
“No…” I admitted. “I can’t believe this. I mean, me family must be so worried about me! I wish I could tell them that I am okay.” I sighed. “And we’re supposed to fight in a war! That’s crazy!” I yelled. The wind rustled my hair and I realized just how cold I was.
“Calm down, honey.” Crush put reassuring hands on my shoulders. “I thought about this all day. It’s going to be all right. At least we’re together in this.”
“How can you be so calm?” I yelled. She always was an optimist, but being optimistic in this situation seemed impossible. “We could die in this war! We probably will!”
“Not if we watch out for eachother.” She said, looking me in the eye. I smiled at her, feeling a little better. She hugged me comfortingly.
“Crush, you are the best.” I said, deciding to forget about the war until I was actually fighting. We made our way back to the girls wing and fell asleep within seconds.
Meanwhile, Kaylan was back in her own dimension in the palace, crying over a picture of Jordan.
“Jordan, my baby…oh I can’t believe this! I love you so much! I…I…” She stared at the picture lovingly, then her face twisted into intense hate. “I hate you, you dirty sewer sucking scum bucket! How could you do this to me?” She punched the picture and ripped a hole right through the center. “AAAAGH! My favorite picture! I’m sorry Jordan!” She cried.
“Honey, are you okay?” Her mother asked, walking into the room. Kaylan hid the picture to her breast and wiped the tears from her face, deciding she could confide in her mother.
“Mommy! Can I talk to you? I have a slight boy problem. But you have to promise not to tell da…”
“Sure, honey! I mean, I know about all there is to know on the subject of boys. Now, what were you saying?” Her sometimes bubblehead mom asked.
“Hey beauties.” Her father walked into the room, the one person Kaylan did not want to know about this, for fear that he would want revenge.
“Uh…nevermind. I think I just need to be alone right now.” Kaylan said quickly, motioning for her parents to leave.
“Are you sure? You were just telling me about your boy problem.” Kaylan’s mother said.
“Hahaha, what? Oh no, Jordan and I are fine! Dandy! In fact, we’re going out tomorrow night! Hahaha!” Kaylan laughed, frantically waving her arms.
“Okay honey.” Her mother and father left.
“I just can’t take any chances. If daddy finds out that Jordan is the leader of a Dimension 2 base, he’ll be so mad…and now that we’re broken up, he may kill him!” She cried to herself, throwing her body onto the canopy bed and crying until the next morning.
Myself, I was sound asleep at this time, and would continue to be until five o’ clock, when the wake up call buzzed in our rooms.
“Ugh…a wake up call?” I groaned and buried my head in my pillow. “What time is it?” I asked, barely understandable through the pillows.
“It’s only five!” Chrysy exclaimed, looking at the radio clock next to her bed on the nightstand. Crush pushed herself up.
“If we train at noon, why do we have to get up now?” She groaned. At that moment, Melody burst in, dressed and made up beautiful already. And cheery. So cheery it was annoying.
“Morning girls! Breakfast is in thirty minutes! You don’t have to go, but most of the trainees do. You know…to hang.” She smiled.
“So, if a certain Chrysy wanted to see a certain Roy…” Raven poked her head in the door next to Melody. Chrysy jumped out of bed.
“Wow! I am suddenly wide awake! Who wants breakfast?” She asked.
“I’ll go Chrysy.” Crush said.
“Me too.” I said, rolling out of bed, literally.
“Just let me get on these dumb pants.” Crush was trying to fasten the leather pants in the front. The snap was missing, but she was clueless to that and continued to struggle. When finally we’d all gotten ready, we made our way into the hallway, where lots of people were either walking to the dining room or just hanging out. Jason and Cecelia exchanged ‘I love you’s while they walked hand in hand. Mikaela had jumped on Kyle’s back, to his displeasure.
“Kaela! Get off!” He groaned.
When we got to the dining room, Chrysy immediately noticed Roy talking to another guy over in the corner.
“Yeah, so then I blew it up.”
“No way, man!” This was a typical conversation around here among elites, as I would find out in the next few months. All about blowing things up.
“Oh lookie! I think I’m gonna go talk to Roy now! Catch up with you guys later!” She smiled and immediately ran over to them to butt her way into the conversation.
“Crush!” Adam said. We both turned around, and he waved to me, then turned back to Crush. “I got you some coffee.” He handed her the cup.
“Adam, how sweet!” Crush said, and walked off with him, waving goodbye to me. It looked like I was on my own so I scouted out someone to talk to, seeing as how standing around alone was no fun. I saw Beryl sitting alone staring at Chrysy, Roy, and that other guy in the corner. I walked up.
“Hey Beryl!”
“Hmm…oh hey Indy.” She said.
“What are you so distracted by?” I laughed. She looked up at me, smiling, and motioned with her head.
“That major cutie pie over there in the red!” She meant the guy talking to Chrysy and Roy. “Xander.”
“Oh really?” I smiled. “He looks nice. Why don’t you go and join the conversation?” I prompted her. Chrysy hadn’t had any trouble, she was yakking away about being a model.
“I CAN’T Indiana!” Beryl said, blushing ferociously. “What would I say? I’d be blushing all over the place…no, no. I can’t…not yet.”
“Allright, if you say so. You know what, I’m not real hungry after all. Do you wanna come with me and check out the library?” I asked.
“No, go ahead.”
“Allright, see you at training.” I made my way down the hall and surprisingly found the library in only five minutes. This was the place where the trainees had their classes on Saturdays. I was looking through books when I noticed Jordan sitting at one of the tables reading a huge calculus book and thinking out loud.
“N to the fourth power can be converted to…what?” He groaned. I walked over to him.
“Jordan, what are you doing here?” I asked.
“Studying.” He said, barely looking up from his book. He probably thought I was an idiot. Of course he was studying.
“At five forty five in the morning?” I asked.
“Well, training ten hours a day kind of gives you limited free time. I have to keep up with other people in school, or I’ll lose my base.” He said, looking up at me. He must be pretty passionate about his base if he worked so hard to keep it.
“Wow, you must be pretty busy.” I sighed.
“Yeah…did you say it was five forty five? I have to get ready to train the elites.” He said, getting up and taking his book. “I will see you at twelve.” He left. I looked around, and didn’t recognize the few other people in the library, so without wanting to, I fell asleep.
I had a dream about my family. I missed them so much. It was interrupted by Jordan, all sweaty from his last training session.
“Hey!” He yelled. I dizzily tried to find who was yelling, and focused on his face. “It’s eleven fifty! You have ten minutes until your training!” I jumped up. I had to change.
“Thanks for waking me up, I’ll see you in ten minutes.” I dashed out of the library, leaving Jordan behind. I really didn’t feel like training as I slipped into my uniform and dashed down the stairs. I was really tired, and sore. I was a couple minutes late but Jordan pretended not to notice. We had to do a lot more weight training that day. I did so many bench presses I could barely feel my arms. I was dying by the time class was dismissed. I trudged towards my room slowly but Melody caught up with me.
“Hey Indy, want to go out tonight?” She asked.
“Sure…I might as well get a feel for this place if I’m going to be living here. But first I am going to take a long nap.” I sighed.
“Great. We’re going to Suncharms. It’s a restaurant but also like an outdoor beach club or hangout. A lot of people are coming. Meet us right here at nine, okay?” She said, and let me go on my way.
