DIMENSIONS 1.2
“We’re here.” Someone said. I turned around, to see that there were about twenty people around me, most of them, like myself, looking scared clinging to people who had just flown. I quickly disentangled myself from Jordan, who was looking amused at the fact that I wanted to get away so badly.
“Allright, everybody, welcome. Training is at twelve sharp, in Training Room #4. You will all be there.” Jordan said, motioning towards the main doors of his base, and then he started to walk towards another wing, but then he turned and glared at us so coldly it seemed that my blood had frozen. “Or you’ll be sorry.”
We entered the base and a couple people left, including Bacardi and two other guys. A very pretty girl about my age was leading the group. She looked a lot like Jordan, with black hair and tan skin and dark red-brown eyes.
“Hey everybody, I’m Melody, but call me Mel-Mel. No, I’m not Jordan’s sister,” She answered my silent question. “although people always say me and my twin Raven look exactly like him. Well, girls follow me, guys follow Slash.” She pointed towards an intimidating guy with a pink mohawk, and dark blue eyes. If he hadn’t been so scary looking, I’d have to say he was one of the most handsome guys I’d ever seen. In fact, there were many good looking guys around here.
As the other girls and I followed Melody, I decided I was going to find out exactly what we were doing.
“Wait…so we’re supposed to fight in a war?” I asked, following closely behind her through the many confusing hallways. This was one big building.
“Yup.” Melody said, smiling at me. It wasn’t a sadistic smile like Jordan’s had seemed to be, it was a sweet smile, like she really didn’t understand that we didn’t want to fight in a war and would probably die. Nevertheless, I was angered.
“But I can’t fight in a war! I’ve got important things to do! I want to go home!” I said, almost yelling. She turned to me and momentarily stopped walking.
“Well, you can’t get back to Dimension 1 alone, and we’re not allowed to help without an order from the Emperor.” She said, a sympathetic look on her face.
“What good would I be in a war? I’ve never even seen a real gun, much less used one!” I said, trying my hardest to get out of this any way I could.
“Well, whatever a gun is, you don’t have to worry about it. We don’t use them. Anyways, here is the girls wing, choose your rooms. There can be up to three people per room. I’ll be back in half an hour with your training uniforms.” She left before I could ask her what they used if not guns. Chrysy, Crush, and I chose a room. The interior was dark green and had a flowery theme and the three beds had matching quilts decorated with stars, flowers, and hearts.
We spent the next half-hour looking around our room and getting ready for our ‘training’, whatever that happened to be. We had no idea, and it was a little past eleven by the time we got our uniforms.
“This is so unfair.” I complained, meaning about the fact that we had to be in this war. I looked through the empty drawers. I had taken off my shirt and had a tank top on underneath. “We don’t even have clothes or anything!”
“I asked Melody about that,” Crush said, placing a framed picture of flowers back on the dresser. She’d been inspecting everything. “She said that they’d supply us with anything we need, like clothes.”
It was then that a girl, who turned out to be Melody’s twin, Raven, walked in with three uniforms in her arms. There was a long yellow tank and green shorts with a yellow stripe along the sides. The tank had a little circle around the initials JB. They were really tacky looking, but I didn’t exactly have anything better to wear.
“Hey girls! Here are your training uniforms. Be in Training Room #4 in fifteen minutes. It’s really easy to find, down the stairs and to the left.” She left without saying anything more, I guess she was really busy having to deliver uniforms to everyone. As I changed, I wondered why she wanted us down there so early. It would be thirty minutes before training started.
But as we left our room, it took us about twenty minutes to find the stupid thing, since Raven hadn’t specified which set of stairs it was at the bottom of. And believe me, there were many stairs around that place.
Finally we found it. Inside almost everyone was already there, waiting, and just before twelve, Jordan walked in, dressed in the training uniform. Comparing boys like Adam, who did have a good body, to Jordan, made them all look like scrawny sticks. I had never seen more muscles in my life. But he wasn’t husky, he was slim. He seemed to be like a Greek god or something.
“Allright, recruits, listen up. Welcome to your first day of training at Base .317D, your new home until the war is over, or until you die. Whichever comes first.” The way in which he spoke this annoyed me. In his voice was a carelessness which made it seem to me like if we stabbed ourselves right there, he’d sweep away our bodies and replace us without a second thought.
“Dimension 3 may attack at any time so your training will be constant and rigorous. You will come noon to four every day except Saturday, or else you will be sorry.” Again with the ‘you will be sorry’. Four hours a day, six days a week was an awful lot.
“Since Dimension 3 soldiers have amazing powers, we’ll have to rely on teamwork, more than brute strength. To work efficiently we need to get to know eachother. So everybody say their name. I am Jordan Diamond.” He said.
And we went down the line, starting with me. “Indiana.”
“Crush.”
“Chrysy.”
“Cecelia.” She was the pretty young blonde girl that I had seen earlier with Bacardi. The guy who had his arm around her was the taller brown haired guy I’d seen with her.
“Jason.”
“Adam.”
“Amber.” She was about my age, with reddish hair halfway past her ears, a little darker than mine, and brown eyes.
“Mikaela.” She looked about twelve or so, with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes.
“Luke.” He was quite tall, but looked only about fourteen, with very nice brown hair and clear blue eyes.
“Topaz.” Aside from having a cool name, she looked cool too, like the kind of girl who goes against the grain because it’s fun to annoy people. Her blonde hair was twisted up in knots above her head, and she actually pulled it off quite well.
“Beryl.” She looked young and innocent, only about fourteen, with black hair and the prettiest eyes of sea green.
“Joel.” He was quite tall and about twenty, with spiky brown hair and a black bandanna around his head. His eyes were dark blue.
“Clay.” He was very good looking. He had black hair and dark green eyes, and was maybe eighteen or nineteen.
“Kyle.” He looked a lot like Mikaela, with the same color hair and eyes.
“Randy.” He looked the oldest, in his early twenties, and had blonde hair parted weirdly to one side and dark green eyes.
“Okay good.” Jordan went on. “Now, before we do anything, I’m going to show you what you’re up against. Me and my assistant Mel-Mel will demonstrate a level one shot and block.” He said. Personally, I had no idea what he was talking about, but nonetheless I was curious.
From his hand emerged a black and red source of energy. I had never seen anything like it. It looked like he’d created an explosion out of nothing. It traveled at great speed towards Melody, who at the last minute, created a bubble-like shield around herself. The explosion shattered against the bubble, and Melody was unharmed. Glancing around, I could see that everyone around me was stunned and clueless too. Jordan went on talking like it was an everyday thing. Perhaps it was for him.
“I can tell by your expressions that you’ve never seen something like that before. Well, get used to it because that’s all that will be going on here. That was just a level one. Most of our opponents are level ten. So, here’s today’s plan. It’s going to be really easy. Just twenty warm up laps, about five miles, push ups, sit ups, an hour of weightlifting, and the rest of the time on dodging exercises. After that, you have two hours until dinner.”
We were standing there taking in what he’d said. That was his idea of an easy workout? He obviously didn’t like it, because he immediately yelled at us to get going.
That training was as hard as anything I’d ever done. I could barely run two miles, along with most of the other recruits, and we had to be lectured by Jordan. I could only do twenty push ups at a time, rather than two hundred, so again I was lectured. It went like that for four hours until finally we were released. A couple of us decided to head to the beach and chill until dinner.
I was sitting on the wall between the public beach and Jordan’s base. Chrysy was next to me and sitting on the sand below was Raven.
“I can’t feel my legs.” I told Raven.
“It may seem like Jordan overworks you, but you’ll be so fit in a couple weeks that nothing will make you sore.” She said. I decided she was right, after all, she would know, she was a midclass in his base, a level six, which means she’d been training for about nine years.
“Indiana!” Chrysy suddenly grabbed my arm and directed my attention elsewhere. She was pointing to a guy standing alone a little ways down the wall. “That guy over there is totally hot!”
“Yes he is!” I said. He, like so many others here, had a very nice body, spiky blue hair and gorgeous green eyes. I’d have to get used to the weird hair colors here, apparently they’re as natural as brown and blonde. He kept glancing our way, and after about a minute, I pushed Chrysy towards him.
“He is so checking you out! Go say hi!” I whispered, laughing.
Chrysy made her way over to him, I’m sure feeling quite embarrassed, although when she greeted him, I could hear, she sounded as casual and cool as ever.
“Hi there!” She smiled.
“Hey.” He said.
“I’m Chrysy. I’m a recruit.” She held out her hand, and he shook it.
“I’m Roy. I train the novices here.” He said.
“You? But I thought Jordan did all the training?” She asked. I’d been wondering the same thing myself.
“Normally he does, but I’m the top of the elite class, so while he trains the recruits, I train the novices.” Roy said, leaning back against the wall and basking in his own glory.
“Wow, you’re the top of the elites? That’s so cool! Well, how about since it’s only 4:30, we could…” Chrysy said. I smiled. She was asking him out already!
“It’s 4:30 already? Shoot, my class is now! I still have to train with the elites even though I’m also teaching. Jordan doesn’t want my power slipping. He’s such a great trainer. Be glad you got recruited to his base.” Roy said. The look on Chrysy’s face clearly and plainly said “I am.”
“I’m sorry, I have to go. I’ll see you later.” He waved to her as he started jogging back towards the base.
“Bye…” Chrysy reluctantly watched him go, then turned and made her way back towards Raven and I. I slid off the wall and elbowed Chrysy in the ribs playfully.
“He’ll see you later huh, Chrysy?” I laughed.
“And he just broke up with his girlfriend, so he’s available!” Raven said, smiling at Chrysy. I realized then that she would be a good source of information on all the cute trainees around here.
“Raven, can you tell me about elites and novices and whatever?” Chrysy asked. She didn’t know what those were any more than I. I just figured elites were the best, novices were beginners.
“Sure. There are four main groups. Levels 1-3 are novice, levels 4-7 are midclass, levels 8 and 9 are elites, and level 10 is fullpower. Melody and I are level six. There are about 115 trainees on this base, including you guys.” Raven explained.
“Wow. That seems like a lot of people for Jordan to train. I mean, how does he do that?” I asked.
“He trains ten hours a day, three hours with the elites, two and a half hours with the midclass, four hours with the recruits, and a half an hour on his own. Roy does two hours of novice training now that you guys are here.” Raven said. I held my breath. No wonder Jordan’s so mean, he must be so tired by the end of the day.
“Hey guys! Tough workout today, huh!” Topaz smiled, coming up towards us from the base. She’d changed and showered, unlike Chrysy and I who were still all sweaty in training uniforms.
“YEAH. And to think we have to do this for five more days before we get Saturday off.” I sighed.
“What I don’t understand is, are we going to be able to do what Jordan did in training?” She was referring to him shooting the energy from his hand.
“No. The bodies of people from Dimension 1 are incapable of creating or handling such power.” Raven said.
“Well then isn’t it kind of suicide if we go into war against it? I mean, what can we do?” Chrysy asked. I’d been wondering that myself.
“It takes a while to recharge after an energy blast, especially a strong one, so you can fight them equally in martial arts to distract them while we try to hit them with our blasts. And of course, we’ll protect you from those blasts as best we can.” Raven said.
Still, it sounded screwy. If we were hit by one of those blasts, we were done for. Why can’t they recruit people from their own dimension?
“Well…still. Be serious now, what are the chances that us recruits will live?” Chrysy asked, hands on hips. Until now I hadn’t seriously thought of my chances of dying, and this was a scary question.
“Well…heavy losses are expected on all fronts…” Raven said, sounding like she was stalling. “But…I’d say…there’s about a…oh…about a…” She definitely was stalling. “Ten or fifteen percent chance you’ll survive.” She dropped her voice for the last part, but we all heard. Topaz, Chrysy and I shuddered in unison.
“Oh…how comforting.” Chrysy said, as Topaz hugged herself in an attempt to ward away the chills.
“Hey homies!” We were interrupted by Melody, walking down the beach in the cutest spaghetti strap dress with blue skies and clouds on it. She was carrying a ton of bags and it looked like she’d just gone shopping. “I’ve been shopping all day and I got all new dresses for dinner!” She handed us the bags to look through. There were so many pretty ones, but I chose a dark blue spaghetti strap number. It looked like it had cost a lot.
“But Melody…are you sure we can just take them? Don’t they cost a lot of money?” I asked, admiring the dress.
“Well, it’s Jordan’s money. He doesn’t care. This is one of the richest bases, you know. Now y’all go on and try on those dresses. See you chicas at dinner!” Melody waved us away. We excitedly ran back to the girls wing to change and get ready for dinner.
