Kewl Tricks
note: the ollie is the key trick when skateboarding if you can't do it you probably can't do much. i strongly suggest learning it before moving on to anything else.
1 Learn to ollie
2 Place your back foot right on the tail and your front foot between the middle of the board and the screws, but hanging a bit over the heel side.
3 Start to ollie but when you get off the ground instead of leveling it off with your front foot, slide it diagonally off which should cause your board to flip.
4 Once the board has flipped over catch the board on your feet.
5 Bend your knees and land
6 If your board turns or doesnt stay underneath your feet try putting your front foot closer to the toe side
note: a pop shuvit is when your board turns 180 degrees without your body moving
1 Skate along at an average speed put one foot on the tail, and the other in the center of the board
2 Start to ollie but instead of dragging your front foot up shove the board 180 degrees with your back foot to the heel side.
3 Guide the board around with your front foot
4 Catch the board with both feet and land
1 Start skating
2 Bend down and grab the board as if it was an indy grab
3 Take your front foot off the board and quickly jump 180 degrees (still holding the board)
4 While in air get your foot back on the board
5 Let go of the board
6 Land and roll away
note: this is considered by some to be an "old school" trick, but it is still pretty dang impressive when done over somthing big
1 This trick is good because you can do it anywhere on street. You should probably learn it first on a bank-to-wall, thats easier. Then take it straight to a flat wall with no bank
2 Approach the wall at a 45 degree angle, moderate speed. Have your back to the wall (backside). Bend your knees when you approach the wall: right when you get to the wall spring up.
3 Make the transititon from flat-to-wall as smooth as possible, so you can maintain your speed and get high on the wall.
4 When you start to peak put your pressure on your back foot, lift your front wheels and kick-turn like on a vert ramp
5 Hold your front wheels up and manual down the wall. Come down at a 45 degree angle ( to maintain speed)
6 Keep the transition as smooth as possible, with your front wheels up, shift your weight back.
note: the 360 flip is a conbination of a 360 varial and a kickflip
1 Roll at a medium fast speed. Place your back foot right on the tail to the toe side, and your front foot in the middle of the board to the heel side.
2 Start a 360 varial and as the board starts to spin, kick straight out
3 The board should take the same time to 360 flip as a kickflip would. Catch with your feet
4 Bend your knees and land
5 If your board doesnt stay underneath your feet try changing your front foot position around
1 learn to ollie
2 Find an object about a foot high that is board-slideable. Run parallel with your back to it at a medium pace
3 Start an ollie but when you get off the ground turn 90 degrees and land on the ledge with your front truck over the object and your weight balanced on each side
4 The board should slide. Stay on untill you come to the end of the object (if you get that far) turn back parallel with the edge
5 Land and skate away
1 Place your front foot in the middle of the skateboard but dont tilt it at all
2 Bend down and place all the pressure in the middle of the board
3 Make an ollie but instead dont kick your back foot out as far..just to make the board to a 90 degree turn
4 At the 90 degree point GRAB, not touch the nose (which will soon be the tail) and swing it around the rest of the 90 degrees
5 Let go right before your front truck (or both trucks) hit the ground
6 Roll away. If you get a good enough and can get high enough insetad of landing after the popshuvit when you grab the tail throw it behind you to get a 360 degree turn
1 Learn to ollie
2 Place your back foot right on the tail and your front foot just below the screws, but hanging a bit over the toe side
3 Start an ollie but when you get off the ground instead of leveling it off with your front foot hit down and out to the toe side which should cause the board to flip
4 Once the board has flipped over catch it with your feet.
5 Bend knees to absorb the shock and land
1 Learn to do frontside nosegrinds
2 Approach the ledge with your back to it almost parallel with it
3 Pop an ollie and land on the ledge like you would with a nose manual. Your front foot whould be just behind the screws when you ollie and just in front when you land
4 Grind as far as possible
5 As you reach the end of the grind put more pressure on your nose to get that extra pop
6 Learn first on a ledge with an end so it's easier to come off
1 Learn to kickflip
2 Place your back foot right on the tail and your foot between the middle of the board and the screws, but hanging a bit over the heel side (similar to a kickflip)
3 Start a kickflip and when you kick out to start the board flipping, simultaneously sweep your back foot around behind you causing the board to rotate
4 Catch the board, land and ride away clean
5 This move takes quite a bit of practice, so always concentrate on swinging your back foot around. (If you have trouble doing it fakie)
1 Place your front foot in the middle of the screws and your back foot on the tail
2 Jump into the air with using your back foot only and simultaneously slide your front foot forward towards the tip
3 Stay parallel with the board, land, and ride away clean
1 Learn how to 50-50 consistantly and learn how to ollie on to an obstacle to a tail manual (if you can't do that than you are going to have trouble learning 5-0's).
2 Ollie at least a couple of inches above the obsticle you want to grind on.
3 Land on the obsticle and put all your weight on your back truck(this will balance you as you grind across the object).
4 Grind across the object and ride off clean (for starters I reccomend that you grind on somthing that you can ride straight off).
1 Position your back foot on the tail and the front foot in the middle of the board
2 At the same time kick down on the tail of the board, slide your fromt foot up the board and kick and tkurn your shoulders 180 degrees
3 Land the trick (remember to stay abovve the board at all times).
1 Put your back foot on the tail and the front foot in the middle of the board and ride paralell to the curb
2 At the same time kick down on the tail of the board, slide your frot foot up the board and jump
3 Ride on the curb untill you slow down, then pivot off (you should be going at a medium speeed).
1 Do what you would normally do for a kickflip
2 When in the air, twist your shoulders 180 degrees, and be looking for hte board underneath you
3 Land and ride off clean
