(Close the Loop)

Expand use of the centers to include non-credit continuing education courses.

List of non credit courses offered

Addition of at least 3 new, successful courses per center during the year.

Due to the extreme budget cuts brought on by state revenue shortfalls, efforts at the centers had to be focused on the primary mission of providing access for credit courses, online and by compressed video.  Non-credit classes were identified but not funded.

Funding was requested to offer some continuing education courses, primarily in basic computer instruction.  This funding was approved for 09-10.

Participants will provide positive evaluations for new continuing education courses.

Participant evaluations

At least 70% of participants will rate the new courses favorably.

These results will be forwarded and recorded to 09-10, during which funding has been acquired.

Increase community awareness of the centers and the college.

Log of visits to centers by community members

Log of local events in which center staff participate

Community members’ visits to the centers will increase by 10% over 07-08.

Participation of center staff in local events will increase by 10% over 07-08.

6.1

Statistics at both Dixie and Gilchrist Centers indicate more than a 10% increase over the previous year in visits to the centers.  As the economy has worsened, more people have come to the center seeking re-training opportunities, and to use the computer facilities.

Center staff will continue to promote the centers through participation in local events, and by maintaining open access to the centers with the use of part-time staff and student assistants.

NOTE: assessment should focus on effectiveness, efficiency, constituent satisfaction, or impact on functions, services, processes or student learning.
