My great great grandfather was Frederick Deborn. He was born in 1796 in
Holzhausen,Waldeck,Hesse,Germany. About 1837 he married Louisa Koester
in Germany. He and Louisa traveled aboard the Maria Brandt and arrived
in New York on 6/29/1837. In 1838 he was living in Rochester, Monroe,
Co,New York. In the Census of the Iowa Territory, Van Buren Co,
Farmington, IA he is recorded. He was naturalized 9/21/1842 in Van
Buren County, IA.

Deburn,F.G. farmer and stock raiser. . . born July 5, 1838 in Monroe
Co, New York and in 1845 came with his parents to Davis County,Iowa. He
was married in April 1855 to Miss M Johnson, a native of Iowa,and had
one child, Hiram. His wife having died, he was married again October
16,1867 to Miss Levina Strang. They had 6 children: Mary A,Nancy J,Ida
A, Louisa,Joe G,and Anetta. Mrs D having died, he was married again on
May 31,1881 to Miss Anna Christina Helmina Amelia Low,[Kraner] a native
of Germany. Hiram Deburn a brother of the above named, was a soldier in
the late war, in the Seventeenth Iowa Infantry, and was wounded in
Vicksburg. Mr F.G. Deburn owns a good farm of 121 acres. In politics he
is a greenbacker and a member of the Christian Church. He is a
hospitable gentleman, and has the respect of all who know him.
Frederick Deburn, father of the above was born April 2,1796, in
Germany, and came to New York in 1838. He ran a government mill for
some time, and was very badly injured by being caught in the drive
wheel. when he first came to this territory the deer were so plentiful
he could kill them with an axe. In 1858 he fell into a cellar and broke
3 ribs,and in 1873 broke his leg in the thigh. He died March 29,1877.

Obituary of Frederick Gilbert Deburn (Ottumwa Courier?, I

Frederick Gilbert Deburn was born in Rochester, Monroe County, New
York, July 5, 1838. In the year 1845 he came with his parents to Davis
County, Iowa where he resided until death called him January 11,1911,
aged 72 years,6 months, and 6 days. In 1864 he was married to Miss
Martha Johnson. To this union one son was born, Hiram, who is a
resident of Davis County. At the death of his wife he was married to
Savina Strang October 1866. To this union seven children were born,
Mrs. I.S. Glasgow and Mrs. L.E. Furtney of Oklahoma; Mrs Gloucester
Lanman, of Missouri; Mrs Nettie Elston and Joseph G. Deburn, of
Eldon,Iowa; Willie deceased.
After the death of his wife he was again married to Anna Kaiser. To
this union 3 children were born, Mrs. L.E. Fite and Clarence of
Eldon,Iowa, and Mrs. E.N. Hemingway of West Branch, Iowa.
He leaves to mourn his demise a wife, one brother, ten children, twenty
five grand children and 3 great grand children, and a host of friends.
He united with the Christian Church some forty years ago.
The writer visited Mr. Deburn a few days before his death; at which
time he told us his work was all done.
(I believe this obituary was in a scrapbook of my aunt. Notice the
spelling Deburn.) Joseph Deburn of whom I have a picture appears to be
your great great uncle. He died about 1941. He was never married.)

think.
