Welcome to my web page under constant construction.
I'd like to say thanks for stopping by. Please feel free to comment on anything you see here by e-mail. My name is Scott Werling, and I live in Anamosa, Iowa with my wife, Cindy, and my 3 kids; Eric 18, Todd 16, and Carrie 14. Oh yes, our dog, Bandit, he thinks he's people too! The kids are in the Anamosa Community School System; Eric has graduated (here's the picture of me handing my son his diploma) and is attending the University of Iowa this fall majoring Pre Med. Todd is in his junior year; and Carrie is a Freshman. Eric has gotten into cheerleading at Iowa Our school mascot. I work as a dispatcher for the Iowa State Patrol in Cedar Rapids Iowa. If you are hooked up to NCIC, the ORI for our center is IADPS0900. My wife is a Registered Nurse working, mainly with the elderly in long term care. We love our Hawkeyes here. Come join me and others on EFNET mIRC at #herky for some chatting about those Hawks. When one of their games is on we can usually be found on the Net. If you are in Amateur Radio, so am I. Got my license in 1993 and am active on 2m, 70cm, and usually 15 and 40m CW. I run a Kenwood TS 120, into a Mor-Gain multiband dipole. I did have a homemade G5RV but it didn't last the winter so changes needed to be made. It was quite an adventure getting that Mor-Gain up where the old dipole was. My two boys and I got it up okay, and it seemed to hold just fine. Then about an hour later, ker-clunk. I looked out the window and it was lying in the back yard. My rope had snapped. Of course it wasn't the part on the house it had to be the part in the tallest tree! But with the help of a fellow ham, Howard KA0EWE, we got part of the old line (which dangled in the tree top) and tied the Mor-Gain off. So far so good, but I'm not looking out the window any more! Hope to hear you on CW sometime. Just about had a heart attack today. I use an Azden PCS4000 as my packet radio. The battery backup has been long dead and I'm not sure how to recharge it. But the PLL went into unlock and wouldn't come out of it. It remained that way all day. Just when I was about to give up and see if I could hook up the Icom 24AT, but lo and behold, the goofy radio started working again! Why? I have no clue. If you do please let me know. I was elected to the Anamosa Community School District Board of Directors. The only other position I've ever held was President of the Jones County Amateur Radio club for 3 years. This ought to be interesting to say the least. Being on the local school board has been, well, eye opening to say the least. I'm on ICQ once in a while too 3752247 is the number if you're interested to stop by and chat.
