About Marching Band

The Marching Eagles

___________________

The Marching Eagles, from Danville, Va, are dedicated to the cause of striving to make the goals of the band become a reality. Hi , my name is Travis Hackworth. I am a lieutenant and section leader for the trumpets in the Marching Eagles. This year has been different for many people in the band including myself. This is the first time we have ever been to a national competition in our school history. We finished 3rd in the finals. Throughout the rest of the season we have been successful with multitudes of first and second place trophies and 4 grand champion trophies. Our show this year was entitled "In The Spring At The Time when Kings go off to War." The band is made up of 107 band members and many more dedicated helpers. In our show this year we try to portray the pearles of battle, the sadness of the loss of human lives, and the glorious victory of war. The work ethic this year has been strong for the most part thanks to the other leaders Chris Adams, David Sule, Ashley Rush, and many more. It is my wish to see the band go forward and keep up the good work ethic and pride in the years to come. so I leave you with this about the band. The band is a strong organiztion run by the student body. Band Camp runs for 2 weeks in August from 8am-6pm. Most of the band members are members in the Wind Ensamble, which is a class band. Some other members belong to the Symphonic band, which is the other class band. Other people come just out of interest. The director of both bands is Reginald Purvis. Assistant for the colourguard is David Gore. Both of these men work to make sure that the band continues to succeed. If there are any questions reguarding the band; feel free to write.
