HISTORICAL LINKS OF INTEREST
A start on some bits and pieces of Fayette History with a majority
of the information gleamed, copied, outlined and interpreted from Internet sources and
from four generations of saved news clippings of family members, and from books and
manuscripts such as Fitch's "Fayette County History of 1910," and "The
History of Fayette County, Iowa 1878." The Fayette History pages are produced
with the intent of being an informational link to the Fayette Iowa High School Cardinals'
homepage. The organization of the information will be an ongoing project for
the next year, with the intent of having the information refined and the site
functional by the end of the year. Pages will be uploaded as they are worked with,
disregarding the level of organization, for general interest and for editing by Fayette
people as they may be able to supply input and information. At present the Native American
material is at a standstill as the more info reviewed, the more conflict of facts and
interpretations, therefore we will take the time to sort things out later when motivation
allows. As a student of early man, the early cultures of the county are of personal
interest and importance. Presently time spent on the history pages will be given to
the early white settlers up to about 1860, with some work up to the turn of the century.
