Welcome to my RENT page!!!! My name is Chris...I am a huge RENT fan. In 1998, my friend introduced me to RENT when she let me borrow the cast recording. After reading through the synopsis and listening to it a few times, I fell in love with it. I almost didn't give it back her (but don't tell her that.)
Then, on February 26, 1999 I went and saw RENT at Hancher Auditorium in Iowa City, Iowa. It touched me like nothing else has; tears formed in my eyes all throughout the second act. Many adults don't like it because they think it's too vulgar with the swearing and the content, but a lot of those people don't realize that this is the kind of stuff our generation goes through, especially in New York City where it takes place.
To give you a little background of the show, it deals with death, AIDS, relationships, homosexuality, and learning to cope with each other and trying to build a "family" out of a group of friends and artists. Look at the image below and it'll explain it to you a little more. A full synopsis can be seen here.
RENT uses a very simple set. Basically you see a lot of scaffolding, with the band under a platform on stage-right and a set of staircases on upper stage-center. Because of little props (or odd ways of using them), it makes you use your imagination to create the set and props. It makes YOU imagine what it should look like instead of some set designer doing that for you. I am in no way affiliated with RENT or their website.

This RENT site is dedicated to Jonathan Larson for creating the greatest musical on earth...No Day But Today.
ATTENTION!!! NEW STUFF!!! I've gotten several emails wondering how the characters are related, and I added stuff to the Who's Who page to help you all out. Other than that, I've just cleaned up the links page and made several minor changes that might catch your eye as you search through the website. ENJOY!!!
Chris (feel free to email me with questions and concerns)
P.S. This is made specifically for the ORIGINAL cast of RENT, you will find nothing from the present cast, past casts, or benny and angel tour casts!! Although that info isn't posted, you can still email me and ask me questions. I'll answer what I can!
