In 1959, Matell made a perfect carreer move in developing the wonderful doll..."Barbie". Millions of dolls are bought and sold every day both in stores and in the secondary market. The dolls of yesterday are now worth thousands of dollars and everyone is after them. The collectors world is crazy.
I don't really know what got me started as a collector,
I was always kinda a tomgirl...I played with tractors and stuff when I was
real little and loved to get messy on our farm.
When we moved to a town, I kinda got outta the little boy stuff and started wanting
Barbies and cabbage patch kids. *S* What little girl that age didn't?
Now that I'm older, I love Barbies more than I ever have before. I mostly
look, but I can always dream! *S* My latest dream...like many collectors out there is
is to purchase the Toys R US Harley Barbie.
I've got a lot of great dolls though! At the top of this page is a picture
of all of the christmas Barbies from when they begin in 1988 until last
year's doll. I wasn't very smart when I was little so none of them have
their boxes, but I saved the 1998 doll in its box. Santa Clause has bought
me those dolls every year...and he better not forget in the future! *s*
My pride and joy of my collection right now is my Wizard Of Oz collection!
Wizard of Oz has been one of my favorite movies since I was a little girl
and when my mom told me they had created Barbies portraying the characters
I knew they had to be mine. It took me a while to get my Dorothy Doll...but the
others were quick and painless. It was all worth it! *S*
