Part 3

Night has fallen and in the woods outside Sunnydale, the fairy Drusilla flies through the air, her fairy dust falling behind her slowly as she flaps her thin wings when suddenly a handsome rogue appears before her.
He has light blonde hair and high cheek bones and such dangerous looking eyes that she shivers as he speaks, "How now, spirit! Where wander you?"

She feels herself blush but answers, "Drusilla, I am. I have gone through all the lands, up and down. The moon smiling at me and whispering promises as I fufill the wishes of my mistress and fairy queen, the lovely Cordelia. Now I must go."

The rogue, however, reached out a hand and took hold of Drusilla's small wrist, "I am a servant of the fairy king, Giles and I tell you to warn your mistress not to let herself enter Giles' sight. For she has taken from him a babe that he desires to have and raise. He is quite angry with her, especially when taking this babe she threw herself out of his bloody bed and a fairy king not satisfied is not a happy king at all. Therefore, since she is no longer in his favor, I tell you to keep her away for her sake."

Drusilla eyed him and grinned wickidly, now knowing him, "Either I mistake your shape and making quite, Or else you are that shrewd and knavish sprite
Call'd Spike. Are not you he?"

Spike smiled, "That is indeed correct, luv. I am that merry wanderer of the night."
He paused suddenly, and turned to see Giles coming, "But you must now go, Cutie. My king comes."

Drusilla gasped as she turned to see Cordelia strode towards them, "And here my mistress!"

Giles and Cordelia entered simultaneously, their large group of followers behind them.
Giles groaned at the sight of her, he was mad at her, yet he could not deny her beauty. She wore a dress that looked to be made of white lily petals and her long, dark brown hair was brushed back and placed on top of her head. Her eyes held the moonlight and her skin seemed so soft.
Cordelia also couldn't help but admire, Giles, her lover and husband. Strong muscles hidden beneath his tweed suit and his glasses framing his equally strong, handsome face.

Giles let out a breath, "Ill met by moonlight, proud Cordelia."

Cordelia raised her nose to the air, "What, jealous Giles! Fairies," Cordelia snapped her fingers and a group of girls, including Drusilla rushed to her, "skip hence:
I have forsworn his bed and company."

Giles turned red faced in anger, "Tarry, rash wanton! Am not I thy lord? Thy husband!"

Cordelia scoffed, "Then I must be thy lady. Why are you here?
Is it because the bouncing Amazon known as Faith, Your former buskin'd mistress and your warrior love, is to be to The Mayor wedded, and you come
To give their bed joy and prosperity?"

Giles scowled, "Look who's talking. Or have you so quickly forgotten that you once wished the love of The Mayor upon yourself."

Cordelia snapped, "These are the forgeries of jealousy! You and I have been so busy fighting each other that our very fights have affected nature as most fairy magic does! Or have you not noitced?"

"I have." Giles said looking down, then back at Cordelia, "I do not wish to fight you, my love. But why have you crossed me? All I want is the babe you have. I only want a little changeling boy to be my henchmen yet you deny me him."

Cordelia sighed as she thought of the baby she had unexpectantly acquired and where he now slept back at her temporary home on a bank where the wild thyme blows not far from here. She then spoke, "His mother was a servant of mine who served me well. We use to be close friends indeed, Jenny Calendar and I. But when the baby came into this world it was too much for her and shortly after his birth, on her death bed, she beseeched me to raise him. Being mortal she died and it is now for her sake do I rear up her boy,
And for her sake I will not part with him."

Giles shook his head, knowing it would be long before this would be resolved, for his wife was stubborn so he simply asked, "How long within this wood do you intend you stay?"

Cordelia sighed, "Probably until after The Mayor's wedding-day.
If you drop your conquest for the boy, perhaps we could go together, you and I." she said in a seductive tone.

Giles shivered at the look she gave him, wishing he was still lucky enought to be in her bed, but he pushed it away. Being too proud to give in to feminine whiles, "Give me that boy, and I will go with thee."

Cordelia frowned, "Not for thy fairy kingdom! Fairies, away!
We shall get into a fight with this-this BEAST, if I longer stay."

Cordelia and her fairies rushed away. though Drusilla did wave good-bye to Spike, who smiled and returned the wave. Giles shouted after Cordelia, "Be that way, my queen! But I warn you I shall punish you for this!"

He then turned to Spike, "Spike, come here."

Spike practically skipped over, he knew that tone that Giles held, Spike was going to get to perform some mischievous task. And tormenting others made him SO happy.

"Spike, go and get that flower I showed you. The one as dark as red blood. The juices from that herb on a one's lids will make the owner fall hopelessly in love with the next thing he or she lays eyes upon. Whether a man or a beast. If my Cordelia thinks me a beast, then I will give her an even larger one than myself to love!" Giles chuckled, "Go quickly."

"I will!" Spike said and laughed himself, so happy to help do a bad deed.

While Spike was away, Giles heard voices, "Hmm, someone approaches. No matter. I am invisble and unseen to all human eyes."
Giles awaited until two figures appeared. One was a young man of Sunnydale, Giles could tell by his garments. He had dark brown eyes and spiky black hair. With him was a very lovely maid.
Giles grinned at this nymphish creature the boy had with him. Her hair was long and fire red. Her eyes an emerald green that shone brighter than stars in the heavens. Giles listened in on them as they spoke.

Xander growled in frustration, "I love thee not, therefore pursue me not!
Where is Angel and fair Buffy? I'll slay that fool for trying to take my bride from me.
YOU told me they were in this wood. And here am I, in the woods and I see NO Buffy."

Willow simply looked at him with large, loved filled eyes.

Xander face grew red and he hissed at her, "Would you go away! I am so sick of you following at my heels, you ugly thing! Do I entice you? Do I speak you fair? Or do I not say in the most simplest of terms that I do not, can not, nor EVER will love you!"

Willow whimpered weakly, "And even for that do I love you the more!
The more you beat me, I will fawn on you more.
Use me, spurn me, strike me, Neglect me, lose me; only give me a chance to be with you. Unworthy as I am, to follow you.
I love you, Xander and I always will. You can not push me away."

Xander ran a hand through his hair and turned towards her, "Don't, Willow. Don't continue to make me angry. For I tell you I become sick when I look at you!"

"And I am sick when I look not on you." Willow whispered.

Xander sighed, "You are insane, I hope you know that. To continually throw yourself at a man who does not love you. I should leave you here to be eaten by wild beasts. Or if you continue to follow me so, I myself shall tear you apart!" he vowed and left, disappearing in the woods.

Willow watched him leave through tear filled eyes, "It is no fair. Women can not fight for love, as men may do;
We should be romanced and not have to go out and find a man ourselves. Or rather we can but are feeble at catching their hearts. I shall go follow my sweet, Xander and make a heaven of hell,
To die upon the hand I love so well."

Willow trailed off after him and Giles stroaked his chin thoughtfully. It seemed a shame that such a lovely creature should love such a foolish mortal.
*He is a waste of her time. She deserves more, yet that is who she wants. I feel sorry for the child, therefore, that is who she shall get* Giles thought when someone tapped his shoulder.

He turned to see Spike, who held out the large red flower, "For you my king."

Giles smiled, "Excellent."
Giles took it and split in two, "I know where Cordelia is staying. She rests on a bank where the wild thyme blows. I will rub the liquor from this flower into her eyelids and when she awakens, you shall make sure it is a beast she sees and falls in love with. After time, when she has made a fool of herself enough. Perhaps I shall release her with the antidote I have to this potion. I ask of you, Spike to find me a man. ANY man and change his head into that of an ass. Then make sure he stumbles upon the place I speak so Cordelia will wake to love whoever the poor fool may be."

Spike grinned, "Chaging mortals heads into asses? Sounds great! You do mean Jackasses right? Not..the other kind of ass."

"A donkey, Spike. A donkey. Also," Giles handed Spike half of the flower, "There is a young Sunnydale woman in love and I have taken pity on her plight. She is beautiful and sweet and deserves love. She sadly loves a disdainful youth.
However I ask that you anoint his eyes with this flower;
But do it so when the next thing he spies may be the lady. She had red hair and you shalt know the man by the Sunnydale garments he hath on.
Make sure they find love together and make sure you take a donkey faced man to my love than meet me here."

Spike gave him a salute, "Fear not, my lord, your servant shall do so."

Part 4

At the bank where the wild thyme blows, Cordelia came exhausted. She let out a tiny yawn and fell upon a nice soft pallet her servants had made.
She muttered to her fairies; "Sing me now asleep; Then to your offices and let me rest."

Her four fairies, Amy, Harmony, Drusilla and Anya softly sang until Cordelia feel fast asleep. Then they too headed to a place to rest for the night.
Slowly Giles crept into their mist and leaned over Cordelia, pouring the juices of the flower onto her lids.

"When you awaken, luv. You will find yourself hopelessly in love with a vile, nasty thing and I do give my condolences. But it will teach you what the love of a beast is really like." He chuckled and left quickly.

Angel and Buffy walked in on the fairies then but they could not see them because fairies are usually hidden from humans eyes. Therefore they spoke to each other, no fear of waking up anyone.

"You look tired, fair love, with wandering in the wood;
How about we rest for the night? And continue our journey tomorrow?" Angel suggested.

Buffy nodded, "Very well, here will we rest. Find yourself a bed. I shall rest my head on this bank." Buffy said and settled next to Cordelia, not seeing the Fairy queen there.

"One turf shall serve as pillow for us both; One heart, one bed for us two." Angel said and sat next to her.

Buffy blushed dark red and pushed him away, "No, Angel; for my sake, my dear,
Lie further off yet, do not lie so near."

Angel suddenly grinned, understanding her meaning, "I see. You think I mean to take your innocence. What I meant was I wished to lie next to you because I love you. Not to take your virgin head. But, I understand and agree to lie away."

Angel got up and moved a little ways away from her.

"I didn't mean to hurt or insult you in someway, my love." she whispered.

He shook his head, "You have not, so do not worry. I understand your concern. For I would like nothing more than to be in your bed. But I will not do so here. Now rest, dear Buffy."

Buffy smiled and lay down, "Good night, my sweet Angel."

Soon enough the two lovers were fast asleep, not knowing that fairies slept around them.
When Spike, who had been wandering the wood, saw them on the ground. ALL of them, fairies included.

"What have we here? The fairy queen and her attendants asleep with two mortals?"
Spike crept over to Angel and picked at his clothes quickly, "Hmmm, Weeds of Sunnydale he doth wear: I believe this is he that Giles spoke of."

Spike then spied Buffy, hidden in the bank next to Cordelia, "The despisèd Sunnydale maid; sleeping sound, On the dank and dirty ground.
Pretty soul! She does not deserve this. But wait? Did Giles not say a madien with fire hair? This girl's hair is golden. Perhaps, Giles was mistaken however. It is dark tonight and such a mistake could be made."

Spike thought it over and shook his head, pulling out the flower, "It makes sense to me. Besides, I have some mischief to make. I get to turn some unlucky fool's head into that of an ass."
Spike poured the liquid on to Angel's eyes and left.

Xander and Willow entered then.
Being in such a blind rage, Xander did not see Angel nor Buffy so near. Willow did not see them as well, for she was focused on Xander alone.

"Stay, though thou kill me, sweet Xander." Willow begged, wondering to herself if death was a better alternative than a life without Xander.

"I told you to leave and do not haunt me thus." Xander hissed angrily as he continued ahead, totally missing Angel and Buffy who lay on the ground.

"Oh will you leave me here?" Willow called after him as he disappeared.

"Stay, I alone go!" Xander said and stalked off.

Willow sat on the ground. She was tired. Tired of chasing Xander and of loving him. If only she could find some love of her own. Buffy was indeed lucky.
Willow sighed, avoiding tears, and the pain in her chest.

Suddenly she spoted Angel, his eyes closed tight and she gasped at the sight of him.
She crawled over to him, "But who is here? - Angel, on the ground?
Dead, or asleep? I see no blood, no wound."

She examined him and blushed a bit as she touched him, for he was very handsome but even more beyond her reach than Xander himself, "Angel if you live, good sir, awake!" she whispered.

Angel's eyes opened slowly and fixed on Willow's soft face and he felt his heart catch fire, "And run through fire I will for thy sweet sake!" he gasped. His heart pounding. How could he have not seen Willow before!
"Transparent Willow, nature shows art," he said and touched her cheek, "That through you and your beauty makes me see my own heart. Where is Xander? O, how fit a word
Is that vile name to perish on my sword!"

Willow grinned a small grin and blushed at the touch of his hand on her face, "Such kind words. But do not say so, Angel; Even if he loves Buffy and wishes to take her from you, you should be content that Buffy loves you back unlike my own hell."

"Buffy?" Angel found himself laughing as he ran his fingers along Willow's cheek, "Content with Buffy! No; I do repent the tedious minutes I with her have spent.
Not Buffy but Willow I love. Who will not change a raven for a dove? The will of man is by his reason swayed, And reason says you are the worthier maid.
Oh sweet Willow, I do love you." Angel said and pulled her close for a kiss but Willow pushed him away in terror.

"Why are you playing this horrible joke on me! What did I do to you to deserve this scorn?
Isn't it not enough, Angel that I did never, no, nor never can deserve a sweet look from Xander's eye. But you now must point out how no one will love me!
In this sick joke you play you pretend to romance me? As if to bring some smile to my face. This joke is not in the least bit funny, Angel. And here I thought, I must confess,
I thought you lord of more true gentleness.O, bad enough Xander refuses me, but now you abuse me!"
Willow ran away from Angel's arms, disgusted and hurt.

Angel felt as if his heart had been ripped from his chest and he cried out, "Willow!"
But she was gone. Angel jumped to his feet and looked at Buffy with a scowl, "Willow did not see Buffy. And never shall I look upon her agian either. For I now know I love, sweet tempting Willow. I will go to her and convince her that this is not a joke or a lie but true love we have. I will honor Willow and be her knight!"
Angel ran after Willow then.

After a few moments, Buffy awoke screaming, " Help me, Angel, help me! Snake! A Snake attacks me-"
Buffy looked around and let out a breath, "Ah, just a dream. Angel, look how I do quake with fear -Methought a serpent ate my heart away, And you sat smiling at his cruel prey."

Buffy looks over to where Angel is but sees he is gone, "Angel? Angel, where are you!
Out of hearing? Gone? No sound, no word?Ahh! Where are you? Speak and if you hear."

There was no answer and Buffy rose to her feet, "Then I shall come and find you, my love!"
