The
1999-2000 Bantam Ice Eagles is a good mixture of veteran returning players and
up-and-coming first year players. Coach
Jerry Moon, assisted by Kevin Takacs, welcomes back a nucleus of experienced
players including: Center Josh Moon,
who has led the team in scoring every years since he was on the Squirt
team; Austin Busch, a versatile player
equally adept at forward or defense;
John Carr, who adds a physical presence in the corners; Jason Corcoran, an aggressive defenseman who
will clear out the area in front of the net; Chad Dotterer, another defenseman
who’s not afraid to rush the puck up ice; Will Hegwein, back from a serious
injury, already reestablishing his
reputation for scoring the big goals;
Ryan Takacs, one of the team’s fastest and most aggressive forwards; and
Brandon Kruse, an outstanding goalie with plenty of big game experience.
They
are joined by three players who played with them two years ago as part of a Pee
Wee team that won more than 45 games:
Brandon Balsar, Les Mooney, Tom Parkinson. The team is also bolstered by first year players: Jack Hasselbusch, Robbie Jacobsen, Mark
Muenstermann, and Justin Welsh. Also
expected to contribute heavily to the team’s success in first year Goalie
Brandon Morgan.
At
this writing, the team is off to a fast start with six straight wins, but the
team will have to continue to improve as they get into tournament play.
