Game 7

PEORIA -- The Quad City Ice Eagle Bantams saw their season-opening six game winning streak snapped Sunday morning when they were decisively beaten by the Peoria Rivermen AA Gold squad by a score of 8-1.

Although Peoria dominated play from the start, the Eagles battled them on even terms until Peoria opened the scoring with 4 minutes to play in the first period. Within a minute, Center Josh Moon tied the score on assists from Kevin Dow and John Carr. But then the Peoria team's speed and size advantage started to take their toll, as the Rivermen pumped in two more goals in the last two minutes to take a 3-1 lead after the first period.

That was to be the pattern for the rest of the game, with Quad Cities holding their own for most of the second and third periods, but during the final minutes of each period, the Rivermen cashed in their scoring opportunities, scoring two in the second and three more in the third, all goals being scored in the final two minutes of the period.

The loss drops the Eagles' record to 6-1, heading into next weekend's games with Des Moines, to be played at the new Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville.
