Games 5 & 6

DAVENPORT--The Quad City Ice Eagle Bantams ran their unbeaten streak to six Saturday afternoon, with a pair of easy victories, coasting past the Dubuque Devils by scores of 8-1 and 9-0, at the QCSC.

In the first game, the Eagles were led by Captain Kevin Dow, who registered his first hat trick since moving to the Quad Cities two years ago -- no small accomplishment for a defenseman. Another defensive standout, David Warta, scored twice. Right Wing Austin Busch scored his first two goals of the season, and John Carr added one. Goalie Brandon Kruse allowed just one goal as the Eagles dominated play, outshooting Dubuque 35-7.

In the second game, Dubuque kept it close early, but Josh Moon scored twice midway through the first period. On the first, he tipped in a Trent Lidholm blast from the right point, and later converted an Adam Oppendike feed for the second tally.

The Eagles then broke the game open with 5 second period goals, including the third of Moon's hat trick. Austin Busch scored two more goals, both on assists from Moon as he completed a 5-point game. Other Eagle goals were scored by: Adam Derrick, Dave Warta, John Carr and Brian Moriarty.

The Eagle defense again was outstanding, limiting Dubuque to just 6 shots on goal, helping Brandon Kruse to his third shutout in six games this season. Kruse's goals against average dropped to a miniscule .67 per game. The Eagles go to Peoria Sunday morning for an 11 a.m. face-off against the Peoria AA Gold team, which should prove to be their biggest challenge so far.
