Week 1

DAVENPORT--The Quad City Ice Eagle Bantam team opened it 98-99 campaign with a pair of convincing victories at the QCSC over the visiting Chiefs from Champaign. The Eagles won the first game by a score of 6-0, and cruised in the second game by a score of 9-0. Goaltender Brandon Kruse was unbeatable, as he kicked away a total of 18 shots in the double shutout performance. Kruse was aided by an aggressive up-tempo defense led by veteran Trent Lidholm and newcomer David Warta, who each scored a pair of goals. Team Captain Kevin Dow scored one, and Jason Corcoran, though held off the score sheet, racked up a team-leading +9 in the plus/minus stats.

Center Josh Moon, fresh on the heels of his 100+goals season a year ago, again led the forwards with three goals, with help from John Carr and Brian Moriarty who scored two apiece. Other goals scorers for the Eagles were: Adam Oppendike, Adam Derrick and Grant Reuter.

Referee Bruce Dalfonso praised both teams for their clean play, noting that he had to remind himself this was a bantam game!
